SQ5 wheels
I opted for the 21's. There are less choices in a 255/40-21 than the 255/45-20's, and they are pricier, but the optional 21's are too damn sexy not to pull the trigger on. Tirerack has the Dunlops on for a tick over $400 a pop. Ouch.
Both sets come with high performance summers anyways, I'm taking the 20"s that come stock and throwing winter tires on them. Then in the summer I'll get some forged 20"s from a local shop and throw the summers that came with the vehicle on them.
The winter rims/tires from Audi for this vehicle are $4750 or something ridiculous amount close to that and I think they are 19"s.
To each his own I suppose. The upgraded rims were a bit of a moving target. When I first saw them, they were chrome but they look a bit better in real life. Still, I'm holding out for something better.

Yeah, the chrome treatment doesn't do anything for me. I was surprised to see them even showing the SQ5 with chrome wheels. The fact that the 21's don't appear on any other model at this time appeals to me. Call me crazy, but I like options that help distinguish a model from its peers. That, and I just dig the funky design. But, I can see why you are choosing to go the 20" route. I went back and forth with the decision as well.
I used my Q7's S-lines rims for my winter set up and threw some 22" replica Cayenne rims on for the summer. This time around, I opted to keep a stock summer set up and I will find something cool for winter. Afterall, winters around here are 8 months so you need something cool!

i have a client that opted for the 21's and i find it really makes the truck and distinguishes it from the rest of the Q5's.
A set of 4x21" tires is 332$ more than for 20" (Dunlop SP sport max)
I think that +1000$ for the 21's was a no brainer. They are some of the nicest audi has ever made.
Oh and for MY2013, the +1000$ for 20's on the s-line was not available (i would have ordered it that way)

The + $1K for the 20's were available in 2013.
wasn't on the audi configurator and my dealer didn't have the option available. Mine was a very late 2013 build though, maybe there was a shortage
Can't believe this is a debate. The 20'" peelers have been around for a long time, the new 21's look fresh

The upgraded rims aren't that great plus everyone will have them. If they were the black s-line ones that come with the new q7's then maybe it would be worth it.

You could potentially use these wheels for your winter set up or for your new summer set up as planned.
I picked up wheels from Hartmann as well as a set of Michelin X-Ice X1.2 winter tires at another location for approximately $2000.00 less than what it would have cost me at my local Audi dealer.
Its worth a look.
