Re: Ask me anything about Audis!

Thank you so much for your reply.
The wheel is an aftermarket wheel...not original.

So 35 the tire/wheel goes outside the car and the 45 goes more "inside" the car is that it?

Thank you!

Re: Ask me anything about Audis!

That is correct, except the wheel itself isnt going anywhere, but parts of the wheel relative to other parts of the wheel - namely the hub face relative to the tire carrying part (outer rim). Offset is the distance of the hub face from the centerline of the wheel. Visualize it this way: take the wheel hub face (the part that contacts the disc) and imagine that part is fixed. Offset is the distance between that and the the wheel centerline (and basically the tire centerline). So if I kept the hub fixed relative to the car (because your brakes aren't going anywhere) and you change that distance between that and the tire centerline, then the smaller you make that distance (or more negative), the more the tire centerline is moving away from the vehicle centerline (or more outward). The bigger that distance becomes, the more the tire moves inward, toward the vehicle centerline.
Google wheel offset and you'll see cross section images that explain what it is and then you'll see how the tire moves relative to the vehicle.

Hi,
I have a 2019 S4 progressiv with no virtual cockpit (just gauges and center info)
Last week the Laptimer appeared in the middle information area for about 5 mins, then disappeared. I believe I was in Dynamic mode at the time.
Now I am unable to find it again in the menus?
Can you help me with this?
Much appreciated...Thanks!

Where did this come from???

Was changing oil on my 2010 A4 Quattro this am. When I removed the skid plate(?) to get to the drain plug, i found this 4 inch 13mm BOLT lying in the plate!! Last work done prior to this oil change was the 145,000 km service done at local Audi service centre.

Hello,

I have a question about engine codes. How interchangeable are they? I have a 2006 MK1 TT with bent valves (according to my non-Audi mechanic, I am not highly mechanically savvy). I Have been able to find a replacement engine, same 1.8 L 225 hp. My engine is BEA, the replacement is AMU. Does this work?

Hello all, New to this forum. I have a 2006 A4,3.2L I have owned for 6 yrs. The biggest issue I have had with it is drivers window regulator. I have replaced 3 of them since 2015 and the last one broke after only 6mos. They work fine in warm weather but if you try to use it in Ontario winters and the window happens to be froze
the regulator almost always self destructs. I am wondering if the anti-pinch feature has something to do with it as window is always reversing in cold weather. Does anyone know if its possible to get the anti-pinch turned off?

Hello,
I put a brand new HITACHI high pressure fuel pump on my 2012 Audi a4 Quattro 2.0T and new coolant flange and a day after the engine is having a rough idle, trouble starting, electronic oil dipstick says "please drain oil". I changed the oil but still the same case. Black smoke was coming out of the exhaust, check engine light flashes and EPC comes on too and it is giving me code p0010.
i checked the engine again to make we did not miss any sensors and everything is in the right place.

A walnut shell cleaning of the intake manifold might be needed. Use of a tool like VCDS to scan for error codes or log performance metrics can help you identify possible causes - not reaching full boost was an indicator for my Avant that a walnut shell cleaning was needed; put my Avant back to as new performance levels.
