Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
Hi,
My issue is with my 2009 Audi A4 Avant 2.0 Turbo. I'm getting seriously annoyed with the oil consumption problem. I called Audi today and they say that the 1/2 a litre of consumption every 1000 km's falls into normal standards. BS !!! What can I do about this issue. I am adding a litre every 2500 km's or so. I'm just about ready for a lawsuit.

Hi.I don't know how many km you can have but that burning oil doesn't sound right.I had on older models (1.8t) that turbo was gone and that car was burning oil but that was at 150 000 km.You should get lawsuit and make them warranty your engine.

The fact of the matter is this. Service writers and managers are completely clueless when it comes to the mechanical and electronic aspects to anything with four wheels. It is a fact and they only tow the party line. They are trained to think and behave that way.
They have your money and now they want you to go away.
I believe that their interpretation of oil consumption per 1000 km falls into a slippery slope because that much oil will cause converter and environmental damage. That explanation from them is as old as dirt and most Audi and VW drivers should be aware of that type of uneducated misinformation.
You're not the only one that has heard about their "standard". You would think that after all this time the the expense of these vehicles, they would have raise the bar a bit. My 98 A6 with close to 200,000 KM doesn't consume that quantity of oil. If it consumed 1/2 litre by an oil change interval, I'd be lucky.
The reality is this, just because you visit an "Audi" dealer certainly doesn't make them a good dealer. The majority of them are not.

Hello Guys,
My issue is with my brother-in-law's 2002 or 3 Audi A6. His signal switch broke off and we replaced the whole unit. The problem is now the horn does not work and the airbag light is on. He went to a audi dealer to get the codes read and they wanted to charge him about $1000 to redo it and reset the computer. I told him that was bull crap. When you change anything behind the steering wheel do you need to reset the computer (is it called the pcm). Everything went together pretty good, no pinched wires or anything like that. Any ideas?
Thanks Mike

When you take your airbag and sterring wheel apart there is a piece called "clock spring" under steering wheel which provides contacts to the horn and airbag and allow them to turn.If you didn't lock that piece with tape when you took it off, good chance that turned and once you got back on and turn steering wheel you brake theese contacts inside.I would check that plugs on that clock spring and if everything is fine, that is it.You need clock spring.I've seen some cheap ones on e-bay but i'm not sure about quality, but new at dealership is probably $400-$600.Good luck

My oil temp is ranging 90-100 Celcius after a long drive (by long, I mean 20-30 minutes).
Last year, before I replaced timing belt and did the biggest service Audi has to offer ( Service 6), the oil temp was ranging 80-90 all the time (90 was really when I was driving hard).
Do you have anything to suggest?
Its a 2004 Audi A6 2.7T and still under warranty for another 7000kms.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
I have a couple question.
This is my first Audi before I had a Civic. Now I got a 2007 A3 3.2 Quattro
1. Oil changes, I did the 5k change in my civic with just the 10W30 oil.
And now i figure the synthetic oil but every 5k as well ?
2. I only have one key and the remote functions on the key don't work. How do I program it. I have read and all the forums talk about two keys and how to program it. Do I have to go into the dealership to program it ?
3. Finally my ESP light went on the other day. All it says is go to user manual to see more info. Any suggestions. If it helps the brakes are new.
Thanks !!!

Your car looks like under warranty?
Your owners manual has the information you need.
Maintenance schedule could be obtained from dealers.
Having only one key?!? => talk to the dealers.
ESP - DTC ? or warranty
