Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!

Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
As an Audi Service Consultant, I just thought I'd offer some level of expertise to some curious Audi owners! Facts are always better than fiction.
I don't claim to be the "Lord of the Rings" so to speak, but I hope my knowledge can be of some assistance!
I'm on here every Thurday evening between 5pm and 8pm EST, and I'll logon occasionally outside of then. So, ask away! I'll do the best I can!

Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
Hi,
I have a 2000 A6 4.2 and it seems to be running really hot, physically as opposed to the gauge ready high. I had a fellow forum member run a vag scan and no codes came up, but i've noticed that the e-fan never seems to be running. Any TSBs or known issues and areas i should concentrate my digging on. I really don't wanna go the dealer, so any help greatly appreciated.
Alex

Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to you for offering your help to us Audi owners. I think that is so nice...
I will throw you a question, see if you can figure it out...
I have a 2006 cabriolet and in the last 2 months I have been dealing with a huge whistling sound from the area on the driver side window. The dealership has spent alot of money replacing all the stripping, etc but the problem still exists. It starts whistling at around 90 - 100 km/hr and heaven forbid if you open the driver window cause the sound magnifies 5 fold. The passenger window does not do this. My mechanic is stumped. He has tried everything. The other day I was driving when it was raining and there was NO WHISTLING. Does any of this make any sense to you or perhaps do you have any suggestions to resolve this horrible sound.??
Thank you so much in advance.

Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
FOLLOW up: Hey there, in an update to my last comment about my car making whistling sounds, guess what? After about 3 hours of testing my car and sealing it up and road tests and $108/hr cost of a mechanic checking all this out, it ends up being that the 3M protectant I had a guy install here in Kamloops buckled up and was creating that wind tunnel sound, very high pitched at that, from my drivers side rear view mirror. Audi ended up replacing all the weather striping and even the mirror in hopes of helping the problem but it wasn't until they removed the 3M from my mirror that all was fixed. Amazing huh!

Re: Audi Service Q & A! Help is here!
did you already do this? It's a super simple VAG-COM adjustment that should be . Took me 3 minutes to do it for a friend last week.
I've just imported a 2004 A4 from the US and in need of enabling DRLs on it. If I understand correctly, it's a 5-minute job that involves reprogramming the computer. How much should I expect Audi service to charge for it. I've read horror stories in which people were charged hundreds of dollars for this.
Thanks.
Thanks.
