Corie,

I feel your pain and frustration!

I’m quite puzzled about the relation between bulbs and oil in your story.

I think you seek a second opinion about your car’s health – just as with your doctor.

Audiforums.com has info on mechanics in your area and many subscribers from your area as well.

Audis are regrettably not very reliable cars so far. Maybe the day of the week the car is manufactured influences the reliability and the quality the most.

If your car consumes oil – there would be a serious problem.

(I add less than a 0.5l of oil between oil changes (2.7 T)).

Hi

The bulb was out..when i added oil-once the min oil light went on..my bulb began working.

The bulb was changed -three days later in went out. It is working again..strangley enough after I added the oil.
I know they don't have anything to do with each other..just a strange thing to happen.
i am thinking the bulb is either not screwed in properly, or just a bad bulb to begin with.

It's going into the dealer in two days -for an oil change and to replace the bulb.

We will see what happens!

My 67 lincoln continental..was my daily driver for a little over 2 years.. i was spending 20.00 a day or every other day on gas.. A car payment basically. So, I bought a new car.. my lincoln never saw a mechanic for anything more than regular maintenance. They don't make em' like they used to!

A6S6RS6,

Where is the TC sensor located (lock up sensor) on '03 A6 2.7T?
What are chances for the sensor to fail?
What does it involve to get it replaced?

Thx,

There is no lockup sensor. The TCM measure input torque and output shaft speeds. The TCM map will lock and unlock the clutch inside the converter while calculating those speed changes (Slip).

You should post a fault but no matter. If you have a slip speed fault (measured in Vag-Com) replace the Torque Converter. There is an updated torque converter. There are painted letters on the face of the torque converter, call the dealer when it's out.

2.7 Bi-Turbo, not fun at all. Drop the entire engine and transmission assembly with the "K" frame and exhaust and harness, it's faster.

Thanks for the answer.

Is there a way to change the TCM map?

What if the solenoid in charge of disengaging the piston of the clutch is slow?

If TCM could handle longer times for operation of the clutch - the replacement of the converter would be avoided?

(How many hours of labor are expected for replacement here?)

Codes in most of the cases are:
(VAG 17125- P0741)

Any reasons to believe that the viscosity of the ATF could impact the lock-up operations?

Yes but that is not going to solve the problem

No, I said the TCM measures speed, a difference as seen in the MAP will set a fault

Contact that "service adviser" in the first post or a reputable dealer

None unless some idiot used the incorrect fluid.

17125/P0741 - Torque Converter Clutch: Stuck OFF / No Power being transferred
Possible Condition:
MIL on and transmission in limp mode

Possible cause:
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Level not OK
Transmission Sealing faulty
Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) dirty
Torque Converter faulty or incorrect Torque Converter installed
Solenoid Valve 7 (N94)/Pressure Regulating Valve 4 (N21 faulty
Torque Converter Pressure Valve faulty
Valve for Torque Converter Clutch faulty
Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch faulty/worn our

Possible Correction:
Check Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Level
Check Transmission Sealing
Check Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)
Check Torque Converter
Check Solenoid Valve 7 (N94)/Pressure Regulating Valve 4 (N21
Check Torque Converter Pressure Valve
Check Valve for Torque Converter Clutch
Check Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch

Now you need professional help.

While MIL is "on" there are no obvious signs of limp mode- the operation of transmission and the performance of the car are unchanged and are smooth!

What is the procedure to:

Check Torque Converter Pressure Valve
Check Valve for Torque Converter Clutch
Check Torque Converter Lock-Up Clutch ?

If Tip Trans fluid level and quality are OK, there is nothing to really "check" for DTC 17125. The fix is to pull the drivetrain and replace the TC.

34 hr book time to pull 2.7T drivetrain + time to seperate engine / trans and install new TC + parts.

If 17125 just came up recently, you'll notice slightly higher RPMs on the highway due to incomplete lockup. You can leave it for awhile but don't want to leave it too long as TC may get worse over time.

The TC itself is not servicable, meaning TC internally leaking seal cannot easily be replaced as TC needs to be cut open / rewelded / rebalanced.

I can pull your drivetrain and fix it if you want
