Default High pitch belt sound

Ok i've got a quick question. My 97 1.8T has this decently loud high pitch belt sound comin from the motor. It only does it when it's way cold out. Which it has been way cold the last few days. But It only does it for like 5 or 6 minutes till it warms up. I mean with cars being cold you cant expect them to be perfect. But is this something that I should really be worried about? I dont drive the car till it goes away. I let the car warm up for at least 15 sum odd minutes before I take off. COLD LEATHER But just let me know what you think.

Default Re: Toronto / Durham area Vag.Com help

Hi there,
As per my recent post: " revving on its own--pls help! " I've had brake warnings with increasing frequency since I bought my 99 A4 2 months ago. The beeps are a bit of a nuisance, but I don't feel like paying $650 for a new ABS module (Audi Downtown Toronto tells me thats the defective component) plus $360 labour, plus taxes. Non-ABS brakes are ok. So, I'm wondering if the vag-com could stop the blinking warning lights (on the dash) and frequent, shrill, triple-beeps. If so, I would love to disable it and see how a vag.com works. Maybe I 'll get one then.
What do you think? Thanks very much for your reply.
Steve

Is it the hydraulic module with the pump and solenoids , or is ithe abs computer module , if you want you can come by and we could try and figure it out . There are places you can get the stuff used . At worst it can be disabled to kill the alarms .

I don't think you can disarm the lights, maybe the beeping.I bought a used module in Toronto for 100$ and installed it myself. The module had a different letter at the end of the part #,but I changed the two brake lines going to the master cylinder to match the new module.Mine was an M and I went to an A, if memory serves me.As long as both modules have or don't have esl or edl thet are compatable, it opens your options for used.I checked with the dealer before installing.360$ labour!!!...I'll do it in my garage in 15 minutes for 36$ and a cold beer, check modulemasters.com for removal instructions, bently publishers forums and search abs, hours of reading there.

I think you might have to do something with the part # so that the computer recognises it . I haven't played around with the vag tool a whole bunch but have read stuff like that , If you would like to mess around and try and figure it out let me know .
