i took over the lease of a 2008 a4 2.0 with s-line & titanium pkg. i assumed the pkg included a sport suspension, but after pushing the car it was apparent that i was riding on a stock suspension...lots of body roll (i previously owned a 2005 a4 3.0 with sports suspension). i would like to change the suspension, any suggestions on an economical solution that will not void my warranty?

I have a musty smell when I turn on the Airconditioner. I checked various forums & found out that it is probably mold growing on the evarporator. I ordered some cleaning sprays online. The instructions say I need to spray this thru the Return Air Intake Vent. I have no clue where this is?

Hey, I'm new to the forum and I just have a few questions.

1. I know that Audi says that the best way to warm up the 2.0T engine is to drive it lightly right from the start.

Now, on a cold day (winter - less that 0 C) is that the best thing to do for the engine? or would it be better to let it idle for a few minutes?

2. Has anyone ever experienced that sometimes the 2.0T starts very fast, almost too fast?

3. Also, what are your opinions on upgraded drop-in air filters (K&N), compared to the OEM filter.

4. What are the best rubber floor mats for the winter?
Are the dealer ones the best, or are there any other companies that make ones to fit the A4 specifically?

 

please do some research on the topic before asking, because there are Tons of threads that explains these answers.

winter/summer = regardless of what time of the year or what temperature it is you Always.. ALWAYS let it warm up by idling it for 2-5 minutes. Why? u got a turbo. another reason why? cause your engine requires a high temp to operate. Another reason? because its an audi.. not a honda.

Sometimes the 2.0t starts early on the speedometer is to deceive u. it always need to be warmed up before driving.

opinions on a drop in filter? sure put a k&n filter in its better and reusable.

Best? they are rubber... go to canadian tire or walmart for some.

Yes, I am familiar with warming up a cold engine. I was hoping that someone could answer that question based on the fact that the 2.0T engine also has had problems related to carbon deposits on the intake valves, which could be a cause of extended idling. Basically, I was wondering if it would be better or worse for the engine (with regards to carbon buildup), if you were to idle the car until it begins or warm up, or only idle for a few seconds.

By start I meant actual ignition, not acceleration.

And yes, I don't like the generic (cut to fit) mats that Canadian Tire and Walmart sell. (salt washes off of the rubber mat onto the interior carpets)

Mats that are made to fit the A4 specifically would be similar to those that Audi sells, I was just wondering if any other companies sold a similar product.

In regards to warm up, I wait approximately 2 minutes. Just as the RPM drops below 1 is when I put the car in gear and start moving it. I too read audi's instructions on driving right away from start but almost any mechanic will tell you to let it warm up ATLEAST until the RPM starts dropping...Same with my bike, I wait till the RPM starts dropping before putting it in gear.

And Wanthema, you mentioned to warm up the engine, especially since its turbo. I'm not an expert and would really like to know. Why is it more important to warm up cars with turbo? As far as I know, it doesn't start to spool up until pressure is built up. Please keep in mind, I'm not a mechanic, so I could very well be wrong! Just curious though as to why turbo cars are more important to warm up

 

It is important to warm up the turbo because oil goes into the turbo as well, think of it this way... cold oil doesn't flow as well as warm oil does. and also the turbo may not have received fully supplied of oil therefore it is important to idle the car, otherwise you will damage the turbo and pay around 700 for a new one.

also if you were driving the car for a long period of time/aggressively... the idle period after driving should be 5 minutes to cool the turbo down and the oil in it so there won't be leftover oil to damage the turbo.

 

OK, so the driver's window does not go down automatically when I press the button once, I have to hold the button until its fully open... however it does close automaticaly when I press the button to close the window... The passenger window is fine. This did work about 2 weeks ago and I have done the pinch thing described in another topic... any ideas???

I have a Mac Tools OBD2 scanner that I use occasionally to troubleshoot MILS and stuff on my car.

Lately the car has had some slight shuttering under acceleration, and my gas economy has gone down noticebly. I thought maybe the o2 sensor might need replacing, especially since I did the Revo flash several months ago and one of the common things to happen afterwards is to need a new o2 sensor.

My OBD2 scanner comes up with all the different sensors, either "OK" or "N/A". I can understand how some sensors my car might not have would show up as N/A, however - my o2 sensor is coming up as N/A!

The o2 sensor heater is coming up OK. But the o2 sensor itself is N/A. Has anyone ever seen this or know if it could mean a bad o2 sensor?
