Here 200 miles is a trip you plan for. Takes about 3-4 hours with
typical traffic (and speed cameras and artificially slow speed limits),
and something that a lot of people only do once a year.
My weekly commute is only 180-190miles (depending on which route I
take).
Costs me on average between £25-30GBP.

If it's taxes, rally your countrymen to let their representatives know
how they feel. (And if your countrymen *like* taxes, then that's their
will, no?) If it's price fixing, rally your countrymen to get their
representatives to do something about *that*. (And if your countrymen
*like* price fixing, well, then, they're idiots, but then again it's
their country.)
Jeez, guys, it almost sounds like you don't live in a democracy, or
something.

Not the USA, that's for sure. The US is a Representative
Republic of independent states, not a democracy.

We don't, every 4-5 years we get a chance to elect a friendly dictator
from a choice of normally three.
Those three are chosen normally by the parties themselves.
Those and the other representatives are chosen to represent and make
decissions for those they elect.
And they rarely listen to anything that is said to them after they are
elected, knowing they hav eat least 4 years on the gravy train to sit
back, and sleep in the house, until someone gets wise. british
politicians are sll the same, even those with genuine beliefs as young
guns become the same corrupt bunch of no hopers after a few years in
office towing the party line, and being instructed by the party whips
which way to vote (not voting for what their constituents want). Ad if
they go out on a limb and vote differently to the official party line,
they are out, sacked scandalized, and replaced with someone who will.

Or don't have a political choice. Or something.
As I said, the whole country was bought to a standstill in 2000 by protests.
There still isn't a party brave enough to dramatically cut the tax.

Indeed. And just incase, they are prepared to use military to protect
fuel refinaries, filling stations and supermarkets and supply depots,
when the people protest (peaceful protests) to get supplies out.
they are also talking about 3 day working weeks, and fuel rationing if
people insist on protesting, or even banning people from driving for non
motoring offenses (which is law BTW) if they take part in the protests.

All measures used by UK Gov in recent history.
Plus, riding down peaceful protestors with horses, baton charging
unarmed women and children.
Why do you think Tony is so at home in Iraq?
