i've been trying to do the remote windows thing, but i keep getting a pop-up saying no response from controllers. i can't even get to the point where the original codes show up and the buttons become clickable. i tried the troubleshooting on the ross-tech site, but no dice.

any suggestions?

where did you buy your vag-com, it is not being recognized by the software or it needs to be reconfigured.

Yeah, does your VAG program recognize the cable? Even if it is not a Ross Designed cable, it will still recognize it and tell you it is not a Ross cable. If it does not recognize it, try all USB ports and COM 1-4 on each USB port to see if you get a recognized cable. Did Windohs detect a serial to USB cable when you attached it and install the necessary software 1st? It should do that 1st off. You may also need to go into the Device Manager and play around with your COM setting to attach COM Port 1 etc with a particular USB port. I had to do that with mine prior to it working.

it's not a ross-tech cable, but windows recognizes it and has it set to com2. when i run a test in the vag-com program everything comes up as ok. i checked for fault codes more than a year ago, it worked fine and i haven't changed anything since then. but i'll try reinstalling/updating the cable drivers and see if that helps.

thanks for the replies.

ok still no luck after reinstalling the driver :\
i click the buttons for the section where that feature is, and it still says "no response from controllers". it also doesn't find anything when i scan for fault codes, and i know it should be finding at least one.

Is ur cable USB or Serial?
I had a version of the vag-com software and it didnt work with my serial, the same problem u had, but the i got an older version and it worked fine. could be related. There are different versions avaliable for download on the site. They tell you which is for what, and if i remember correctly you have to have the software installed on the root directory so like C:\ross-tech\ or whatever. I dont remember where i read that though. If you have a autofirewall up it might be blocking com ports, what windows r u running? my brother's vista laptop, has some security software from ibm, that blocks usage of non common used coms and usb's. You should check that out if you got vista. hope it helps.

Hello all, for the guy that likes to keep his fluids low - i think that you can actually turn off the windshield washer fluid low indicator in VAG.com.

Here is another one that my audi does - if you turn the mirror control around so the line is facing to the back of the car, the mirrors fold in on their own.

The sunroof can also be closed manually if necessary by holding the switch down (oposite of the way that you would tilt it...) comes in handy for me cause my auto close doesnt work for some reason.
