Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
Canmick and fgaucher , I've had the same problem my 2010 Q5 s-line was not on the list and the water pump stopped working but they changed it here in Beirut in 2 hours and everything now going right.

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
Well guess what, seems as if water pump disease affects the 3.0 TDI too. I've had the second one replaced just 2 weeks ago, the first at 5K. Apparently the 3.2 litre family includes the S4 and the TDI too.

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
According to the dealer, Audi used plastic blades on on the S4 and Q5 and these blades were failing. Audi's fix was to replace the pump with one using metal blades (The dealer replaced my pump with one having metal blades or so they told me). I'm surprised that your pump failed twice for you Clyde...not a good sign. I also reported the breaks squealing slightly. Again the dealer told me that this was known to Audi (for the S4) and Audi is telling the dealers that this is harmless and that it only occurs when coming to slow stop (which was precisely what i was experiencing - it doesn't squeal when the brakes are pressed hard).

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
Info from a friend....Read Below
If you own any 2010 Audi you need to read this:
The water pumps on all these models are defective and, in an attempt to not spook dealerships and crowd their service departments, Audi is not telling people.
Their policy is to literally "wait until they fail" and then service them as they happen.
I got this info from someone directly involved with the situation and drivers need to be warned. Mine blew apart and the coolant drained out in about 5 mins. Just made it home before the car seized.
It doesn't surprise me that they are once again cutting corners (they have the worst customer care programs of any luxury car company) but if your family is in one of these on the highway...
TIP: Since it has an aluminum block, I was advised to actually drive it until you split the block and they have to give you a new vehicle because they are not sending out notices or making you aware of this known faulty part.
This problem is occurring on cars with less than 100 miles on them!

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
Hi Mikeh: this was a shivering post. Mine was changed because I was on the "list". How can you force them to change yours if you're not on the last? Also, can this happen to a water pump that has already been changed?

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
This could happen to all who have the plastic water pump. Thankfully you were on the list but for those that aren't I suppose perseverence would be the answer. I would suggest that the replacement be made of better materials.

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
so it took 25,230 kms and my water pump started to leak.........plastic impellers and its was NOT on the recall list........I'm considering myself lucky that it didn't fail on our last trip out to the mountains on Boxing day. Having said that it's going to be done in one day today at Royal Oak Audi here in Calgary.

Re: Q5 Water Pump Recall
I took mine in for 23000 km service in the morning and mentioned about the recall of water pump (even I mentioned I had checked previously over the phone and was not on the recall list), they said they will check and got back to me over the phone in 15 minutes saying that there is a drop lower in the reservoir, and says they will replace it. The car was ready by noon the same day.
