Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
A further update to the discussion above for the 2011 Q5s which have the same ESN for both audio and data:
I spent a long time on the phone with Sirius US this afternoon. I tried to order a traffic only subscription. The Sirius US person struggled valiantly for a long time and consulted two different supervisors before giving up. My single ESN is listed in their computer system as "audio-only" and they could find no way around that roadblock.
As an aside, I did not identify either myself or my Q5 as Canadian.
This situation is getting frustratingly silly when you consider that the relatively economical Garmin Nuvi which I already have provides the same traffic data through its FM receiver. We do several US trips per year and the traffic information is very useful.

I think if they choose to offer traffic here they easily can and Sirius Canada can do traffic and audio over the same ESN. It's just a matter of CRTC giving them the green light.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
I have made no further progress. Currently waiting for 3-month complementary subscription to expire such that my single ESN has no commitments/linkages. Then I will try again for a traffic-only subscription from Sirius US. Success is not likely.

it's too bad that the "info" button of the MMI is basically a dead button. Perhaps people purchasing a new Q can use this as a price negotiation point.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
NAV TMC is working! (currently during my extended free trial) I have the 2011 NAV (i.e. one ESN #) and am able to get both radio and traffic! and by "traffic" I mean flow data (red/yellow/green) limited to Lakeshore (from Woodbine to just before HWY 427) and only incident reports (closed lane, construction, etc) for the 400 hwy series (401, 427, 404, 400). Oddly no info for gardiner.
I believe I'm getting this from Sirius Canada (vs. Sirius XM) since they've emailed regarding a two week extended free promo.
Anyhow, the take home point of this update is that it is possible to receive traffic and flow update on the 2011 NAV with a single ESN (or at least the identical data and music ESN). As Warcity eluded to a few posts earlier, whether the limited traffic info you get is worth a paid subscription is up to you.

Re: Q5 Navigation (TRAFFIC UPDATES) in Canada
Now that is interesting ...
I let my free trial expire on my 2011 Q5, then tried to get data and radio from Sirius XM US. They recognized the ESN as Canadian and would not do both but would probably have done radio alone.
I had a promotion card from Sirius Canada which was far cheaper ($30/6 months) and went that route. Sirius Canada continues to disclaim all knowledge of traffic or any plans for traffic.
Frustrating that Audi doesn't step up and make US subscriptions feasible for those of us who want US traffic.
