about to pull the trigger...

about to pull the trigger...
...and was looking for some input from you knowledgable bunch.
I haven't seen a great deal of discussion or user comment on Drive Select, and have heard (predictably) opinions on both sides. It's a fairly hefty ticket and it's tough to get a proper feel after a couple of test drives. I realize that it is probably subjective, but any input from those who have lived with it for a while would be welcome.
Q5 2.0T lava grey, black int, s-line, pano, nav & (I think) drive select. Pretty excited about it (aside from the wait time) and the enthusiasm on this forum sure hasn't dulled the feeling.

Re: about to pull the trigger...
Hey there,
I'm still waiting on my Q5 as well, same options as you but in phantom black + B&O.
I can't give you feedback on how it performs until February but the main reason I chose to go for it is to be able to crank up the steering and throtle response time to sport.
Being a 2.0T, it already has nice torque at low RPM but couple that with a quicker throttle response and you got yourself one slick city ride
I've read somewhere that some people are experiencing stiff steering when cornering at low speeds without drive select.
I'm hoping that selecting steering in sport mode will offset that problem completely.
If you search reviews online, there are plenty of ADS reviews and most of them say the difference is quite noticeable but they pretty much all sum up to:
1- Take the ADS if you like aggressive driving
2- Don't take it if you're a gentle driver who enjoys a more comfortable and smooth ride.

Re: about to pull the trigger...
I have ordered my Q5 with Drive Select, because of the reasons already mentioned, also, resale value and quite simply I would regret it later if I didn't get it!
Same reason I got the B&O sound system too, I just know I'd regret it later...
I hope I get my Q5 before Christmas, and once I do, I will test out the drive select and post my thoughts.
cheers,
Anders

Re: about to pull the trigger...
Thanks you two. That is where I ended up with my thinking too.
Trigger pulled: Q5 2.0T lava, s-line, pano, nav, B&O, and ADS.
Let the waiting begin.

Re: about to pull the trigger...
USPAVANTWANTED, the answer I got on delivery was: if the Germans are happy, March. More likely April. Sigh.
There has been much said about quoted times and actual times being, well, a little bit different. I'm not holding my breath.
Thanks mmll22!

Re: about to pull the trigger...
Cprg,
Very similar story in the golden horseshoe, give and take some. Thought perhaps it would be worse out west due to smaller network of dealers. The Germans happy? haha. I think that would breed complacency and we don't want them complacent. Better have them unsatisfied and feeding us more Vorsprung inspired product. Good on ya for taking the plunge, I trust you will be happy you did.

Re: about to pull the trigger...
I have ADS in mine and I have to agree it is one of those "cool to have but not essential" options. If you're feeling frisky and want to enjoy a more spirited ride, ADS will work nicely. I'd say I'm pretty typical in my use of ADS. From what I've read many other ADS owners say they leave it on Auto (Default mode when Q is turned on) the marjority of the time. I'd love to VAG it and leave it on Individual, but I don't have a VAG cable and I'm "worried" about making any computer mods, so on Auto it will stay. If you love every little toy, you'll like it, but if you are like me, you will only use it a few times a year.
