Weather looking ok for Sat 9th. I might head up there anyway if I don't get too trashed on Friday night - never been on the drag strip before, any hints?!

Will I need a helmet? From the TMP website:

Helmet
13.99 ET or faster ALL CONVERTIBLES; SNELL 90 OR NEWER; any vehicle with a roll bar installed
I guess the real question is how likely is it I'll break into the 13's? Stock S4 Avant on 17" winters! I'm not looking to break any records, just have some fun driving with the speed and acceleration the Audi V8 gods intended.

Unfortunately I'm working the 16th but would love to join you guys!

This weekend is no good, 16th is good, 23rd and 30th I am in Myrtle Beach. Will I need a helmet? If so can they be rented? I'm not interested in purchasing a helmet for one day.

Went on Sat - great fun! They require a helmet for 13.99 s or faster because they are certified (AHRA). DOT approved is ok according to them and they were happy with this helmet. I looked like a muppet for the 1st part of the day because I was running 14's in my helmet (nowhere to leave it, didn't want it flying around the car) but once I'd learnt how to launch properly I was solidly in the 13's.

If you decide at some later point you don't like the helmet, then check Canadian Tire's return policy...

Bangoman is a quick learner. He went from running 15+ with ESP on thinking he had killed his car when ESP shut him down...to a very solid 13.8 @ 102 mph by the end of the day. He actually ran 13.8 twice. That's good work on a stock B6 S4MT6...right where pretty much all the magazines placed the car when it was tested.

Seinsmeld the 16th is looking like a rainy day. They won't open with any rain at all. They are also open the 17th but it looks just as rainy.

Here are a couple of videos from Saturday. The first one is from my car, showing bangoman's first ever run in the 13s. I was playing with my launch rpms and managed to give him a 2 second head start lol. The second one is of my car, filmed by bangoman in the stands. The respective timeslips are below.
