Hmmm... profile fail. Good spot Saki, I shall try and find a prize for you! I shall be driving to any potential meets and not requiring the use of an aircraft.

I wish I'd seen some of your earlier posts (around Oct/Nov) about going to Cayuga because I would've for sure tried to join you work permitting.

I'm not really interested in blowing out my clutch just yet, but some baby launches could be fun. lol

Paying attention here too.

Either location would be fine for me, so I guess I'd go with the cheaper option if given the choice.

spring will be here in no time. We'll be out there soon enough. I need to improve on my time.

the launching thing isn't really that hard on the car. As long as you don't feather the clutch. A good technique someone told me is to hold the clutch 10mm below the engagement point...hold the rpm at 3000...slowly let the clutch out (which should trigger engagement pretty quickly since you're only 10mm from it)...once you feel the car start to move forward, add gas and release the clutch. It's not a 'clutch drop' per se...so you won't slip the clutch and torch it...but you should also not bog either. You should just go, with limited fanfare and drama...and cut an easy 1.9 60 foot, if not 1.8.

The other method is to hold revs at 3000rpm...and stab the gas while simultaneously releasing the clutch. Also works well, but you can mess it up pretty quickly and either bog, or slip.

Third method - get launch control

*these methods are B6/7 S4 specific...but should be pretty close to relevant to all Audi owners*

I'm interested. I voted St. Thomas as the last times I went to both Cayuga and St. Thomas (during the summer), Cayuga was impossibly packed and St. Thomas was dead. I prefer not waiting/dealing with a bunch of nut jobs (not saying all of them are, just a few bad apples is sufficient). The less number of people, the less the odds of coming across nut jobs. That said, I've never been to Cayuga in the winter so if it's just as dead, works for me. Wouldn't mind getting some 1/4 mile times while still stock to compare later on.

Also, not to hijack the thread but has anyone considered regular track (with turns)? Something like solo runs where each person runs way clear of any other cars? Probably more expensive but I'd be up for that as well.

yeah, Cayuga has some solidly ghetto characters. It's funny.

If we rent the whole place, it'll be really irrelevant though, so no concern there. If we go in early spring, it'll be reasonably quiet. Summer, is a different story.

As for renting a roadcourse, just make a new thread. Simulcast the thread on Audizine's canada section to see if you can scare up more interest.

Here's a question for you - what were your times like comparing Cayuga to St Thomas? Assuming the car and conditions were about the same.

RE: Track driving.

According to my insurance company I can drive my car on a closed track (under policy) as long as it's considered training and there is professional instruction. Do others not have this same stipulation?
