Even after driving 550km, It shows to be half tank with a range of 320/340 km on it. What can be a potential problem and how much do you think it might cost me to fix it?

Also I wanted to know what's a potential cost for changing water pumps on 07' Audi A6?

Thanks.
Mazhar
Hi Mazhar,

With respect to the gauge issue, the first step would be to run an output test on the cluster through VAGCOM to ensure the cluster is operating within normal specifications. If the cluster is fine, there is a possibility the fuel level sending unit in the tank is not correctly relaying information.

Check your PM with regards to the water pump...also, we can run the VAGCOM scan on the cluster no charge/obligation.

Hey goldy1003,

Do you have access to VACGOM by any chance? P0089 is a code for fuel pressure performance and there is a good chance it is one of the fuel senors...usually the high side. As for doing it yourself, the sensors reside more or less underneath the intake...if you are handy mechanically, its is not an overly difficult job.

I got the car for a pretty good deal (1600) with the misfire problem and its fully loaded so I still wound up ok. Cousin is a mechanic and we found a cam set out of a 99 Passat 1.8T at the local junk yard for 65 bucks. Installed and good to go misfires gone and check engine light reset and hasn't been back on since. My last question for now would be what would cause the lobe wear like that? Oil seems to be getting up to the cam, could it have just been very poor maintenance before I got it?

Thanks again for your help and time,
Jesse
Hey Jesse,

Glad to hear there was some resolution to the whole situation! Its a little odd the exhaust cam got worn like that but it may indicate a plugged oil pickup tube/screen. Was there signs of sludge build up? Since you have to drop the pan to access the tube, it would be a good way to check and clean out any sludge.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. Where are you located and when can I bring the car in? Are you available this weekend? do let me know. how much do you think it could cost me if the fuel sending unit is the problem? Is this a common issue for Audi A6?

Regards,
Mazhar

Hi Mazhar,

We are located at 750 Oakdale, Unit 22. Phone # is 6474797773. Website is motorfabrik.ca

Unfortunately this weekend is already booked (We are open on Saturday, closed Sunday) but give us a shout and we can schedule you in for the upcoming week.

Is your A6 a V6 or V8? There are two fuel sending units (one left and one right). To determine cost, we would have to determine what the issue is first. To be honest, its not a very common issue at all.

Hi there, I have a 2000, 2.8 V6 5 speed manual quattro and was wondering if there is a 6 speed manual transmission available for the B5?
