Ask me anything about Audis!
do you know of any legitimate Audi A8 L independent mechanics in the Indianapolis Indiana area?
Not a problem! We are here to help out however we can. This is where VAGCOM or a really good scan tool can come in handy...live readings from the 02 sensor would help rule out if it is indeed the sensor. There is also the possibility of a cat that's plugged if there has been an extended period of misfires or running rich.
There were no other fuel system codes? Also, the mention of gas line anti-freeze brings up another question...how is the quality of gasoline in your area? Please only use a quality 91 for that motor.
The surge may have been an one-off but if possible, scan the TCM for any codes (assuming its an automatic here).
Finally, unfortunately there is no way to check the condition of the guides and tensioners. Your first sign will be cam adjuster codes and/or the cold chain rattle. That's why early oil changes with a quality 5w-40 syn oil are highly recommended.

Am just in the process of buying a 2001 Audi tt with the 5 spd. regular 180 h.p. When I tried it out on the road, the rev limiter cuts the engine out momentarily at 4500 rpm. This appears to me to be way to low. A local garage said he may be able to re-program this in order to have it cut out later. Is this possible? My wife and I are both 70 years of age and since we wont be hot-rodding the car I would prefer to complete delete the rev limiter. Is this possible? Otherwise, what could be the cause of the low rev limiter? Thank you.

Hello,
Been having non stop problems with my 2006 A3. Only happens when I've been driving for about an hour or so with the AC on. When i come to a stop and then take off again, my car "stalls" or looses power like its shutting off and then suddenly kicks in and runs fine until I stop and go again. This only happens after I have been driving around for a few with the AC on. The check engine light comes on temporarily and then shuts off. I keep taking it in but because there is no check engine light on they are unable to get a hard code. I'm loosing it here!

Hello All,
Saturday I went to MotorFabrik shop for my 115,000 service on my Audi A3, and car is running amazing. I'm actually getting better mileage as a result of the service, and they do more than what the dealer does for a lot less money. A added plus was that all staff was extremely friendly!.

Hi, thanks again for your advice, you are a great resource. Steve removed the CEL and put in another gas line antifreeze and so far the CEL has not returned. The car just runs too good to think that there is something more significant going on but it does make us pay close attention to it. Yes it's an automatic. I love driving it and hope that the surge was just a glitch maybe fuel oriented, if not will scan the TCM
No problem. Maintenance is key with these cars and ignoring any issue, no matter how trivial it may seem, usually leads to bigger ones. We don't mean to scare you off
