We don't want to be the wet blanket on Audi fun but if you are planning to do this mod, please be aware that the airbag may fail to deploy. As a shop who cares about their customers, we have to let everyone reading this know.
Gottcha. Please see my post above... thanks.

8K0880201AE6PS2 dual stage Airbag from a B8 S4 (different from what you listed)

He confirms the airbag is dual stage. He says the airbag and wheel have already been fitted and only need to wire it correctly to get it to work. Is this true? Would you know if I need a different wiring harness and what the part number is - or will the one you listed work?

Thanks very much again!

According to the parts catalog:

8V0419091S is "multifunct. sports strng wheel. multifunct. sports strng wheel; (leather perforated); for vehicles with tiptronic; chassis code PR-2PK"

8K0880201AE (without the 6PS2) is "airbag unit for steering wheel. airbag unit for steering wheel; ** only order for **; ** immediate installation **; chassis code PR-1XW,1XX,; 2PF,2PK"

The harness that matches the seller's airbag is 8U0971589J. Can you ask the seller if that harness is included? If they are selling the wheel and airbag as fitted...it should be included.

The MMI ribbon for the seller's steering wheel is 8U0971589A...ask the seller if that is included?

The MMI ribbon from your RS4 wheel is 4F0971589B. It visually looks the same as 8U0971589A but that does not mean it is 100% compatible.

If the harness is included, then its just a matter finding out the pin outs and modding them if necessary.

Just received kit to replace head gasket & timing belt(while its off).
Do I really need to have the head machined flat before replacing?

Hey Rabbit,

If the head gasket popped, its good practice and a preventative measure to have the head machined. Any machine shop that knows their stuff would be able to tell you if there are warpage/fractures on your head.

Also, get whomever is doing your work to retorque the head after a couple heating/cooling cycles.

Forgot to mention, while you're doing the timing belt..may as well replace the water pump (if it has not been changed already)

No problem!

The reason why its tough to find that information is because those PNs are for European model cars (so far anyways )

With the warmer weather we are having...for those with soft tops, make sure to lubricate pivot points and the mechanisms after using them for the first time.

MotorFabrik,
2003 A4 1.8T Quattro Sedan, 5-Spd manual, 198,000Km
I have an annoying coolant smell and low heat. Initially low heat so I flushed heater core (both sides), changed thermostat, J-Plug and reservoir cap with OEM parts. Also refilled with OEM G12 and distilled water. Timing belt, water pump and coolant flange at the rear of the head was changed before I bought the car a couple of years ago.
Bled the system over and over again using the upper heater core hose (highest point of the system) with the little hole in the hose. This should be the proper way to bleed it. Heat is a little better but still not hot. Noticed center vents cooler than side vents. Also in the summer with AC, the center vents are warmer than the outer vents. Could this be the temp mix flaps?

After all of that, I'm noticing a coolant smell from under the hood. Pressure tested it but can't find any leaks and can't pinpoint the location of the smell. Also coolant level remains constant. Just last week, engine light came on and VAG says DTC 16502-Coolant Temp Sensor 1, Cct High, Lower limit not reached. Also noticed that the rads fans run on high as soon as start the car from cold but goes operates normally once up to operating temps. Possible G62 CTS in the back of the head? Car not overheating and temp guage is in the middle (90), where it should be.

BTW, do you have an alignment machine?
