Just thought I'd post this here for Adam (adamstasiak)! ;)

Guys any way to get digital speedo on the B8's? (2011).

There is a button located on the bottom of your wiper control stalk; press it until you get your digital speed readout.

Very helpful thanks alot. Btw any fix to this error thats driving me crazy to the point of selling?
Previous owner installed HID lights. Every time u start car and turn on lights speedo drops dead and the e-brake light flashes. I ordered HID cancelers and tried installing thoes but dont work. And once in a while i start car and get off driveway, the abs goes on and i have to pull over and then start again.

has the abs problem always been there? my thought on that is that you need a new brake light switch..... about $15-20 from most places

and by the speedo dropping dead, you mean the tach? starting a car the speedo should be at 0 lol

My hunch is the ballast from the HID lights are causing interference with the abs module. Thats why the previous owner had them all the way at the bottom (hanging), i decided to put them in properly and it started happening.
Ill tell u the steps i take for the problem to happen.
1. Action: I turn car on, i turn lights on. Effect: Brake light turns on, flashes. The speedo does not work.
2. Action: Im driving, i turn on lights. Effect: Brake light turns on, flashes, speedo drops to 0.
3. Action: Car is off, ignition off. I turn light dial to on, start car. Everything is fine.
Now randomly regardless of lights on/off position sometimes the abs goes on and i ahve to pull over and then go again.

You guys will have much more luck posting in the proper categories for your particular models. This is not the thread to find solutions to problems.

Easy peasy. Get a vag com and change the country code to canada. They should turn on when ignition is working. Had a big headache trying to figure it out but easy solution.

It may be programmable with the VAG-COM unit, but if I dont want the last final delayed wipe, I usually before the third wipe, press down briefly on the wiper stalk, and it stops there.
I beleive I read this in this thread (on one of the many pages).

You need to either get a VAG-COM unit and program it yourself, or find someone who has a VAG-COM, and knows the steps to program it for you....

Yes you can, change the Country coding to USA and they will stay off until you turn them on manually. But this will get you pulled over and you might get a ticket. Canadian law states that we have to have DRL (daytime runing lights) on any car built after 1998??? Not sure if that is the exact year but around there somewhere

its 1989.

Actually no. You only need functional DRLs for the MTO inspection and certification. After that is obtained you can disable the lights until the vehicle is resold and needs to be certified again.

I have been running without DRLs for years now without any issues from the boys in blue.

Thats just because they don't think its worth their time to pull you over for that. It is required.. at least in Manitoba. I used to drive a RHD import so i know the inspection handbook cover to cover. No where does it say you only need it for an inspection.
