Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

do you know if the steering wheel was replaced? is it a stock deck? aftermarket?
Are the controlls even connected?
if the steeringwheel was replaced, due to syling or a blown airbag, and they got a deal, and didnt connect the electronics then that might stop it from working or being able to program it.
If it's an aftermarket deck there are devices to make that work. As far as enabling them with the vag-com, you would have to see if there is a code to enable or disable them.

You can also press the right most top and bottom buttons for 3-4 secs on the air controls.. the up arrow and bottom arrow..

and you get the menu of all sorts of stuff..

menu 17 = KM/h
menu 26 or was it 28 = RPM

etc
most are AC etc flap controls and switch statuses..

press AUTO to go back to normal

also to switch Farenheit to celsius.. its the bottom button and the + near it.. in order

Does anyone know if the Throttle body alignment proceedure works on a 2007 A4 with the 2.0T engine? I tried a couple of times but it didnt seem to make a difference...

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

It sure works :D try not doing it for a few months and come back to it, if the car was serviced recently then it was done and it is tough to find out the change sometimes as it adapts to your driving style over time

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

You are correct it was serviced just before i picked it up so they probably just did it. Ok thanks for the info, I will try that again after a few thousand kms
Thanks

Sweet deal, thanks guys for all the tips. I used my VAG-COM to change all my display to Km/h (misu the speedo of course) but the Fahrenheit display was still intact so I look forward to changing it to Celcius!

Press the Recirculation button and the drivers side Plus (+) at the same time and hold it

Thanks for the very useful information.

Anyone know a solution to this besides taking the car into the dealer ...

My rear passenger side window has become very tempermental when I'm opening and closing. It stops and starts and I often have to push up or down a few times to get to move the way I want. Probably need to take it in, but if anyone knows a solution that would be great.

Cheers, Franz

Zoidbort 06-18-2008 02:30 AM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

Yeah that sounds like an issue with the actual switch to control the window or there is a possibility it could be your window motor or regulator. Does it do it with both the master and passenger door control? If so then it would be the latter issue but if it works with the actual door switch, then your master control might just need to be disassembled and cleaned with electrical contact cleaner.

You have an '06 right? Shouldnt that be under warranty???

franzneumann 06-19-2008 12:11 AM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

Yep, I'm under warranty. Was just hoping to avoid giving my baby over to the dealership for a day or even half a day.

Zoidbort - thanks, very helpful. It's not the motor but indeed the driver side control. I'm due for a service interval in a month, so I'll get them to fix it then.

Cheers, Franz

Possible oil/transm leak also Plexiglass tip

Audi Drivers-

I'm pretty new to this forum. I recently purchased my '04, A4 1.8 about a month ago. It's an excellent car and it drives well but recently i've been noticing an oil patch left on my driveway. It leaves a reddish brown stain. I was thinking it may be oil but i have a feeling it's transmission fluid. B/c my oil level has always been ok. When I took the car back to the dlr, they said i was crazy and there was no leak. I'm taking it to my own mechanic to see where the leak is coming from on Friday. Any suggestions? Is this a common problem?? :???:

TIP: When I first got the car i messed up the plexiglass behind the steering wheel using a cheaper version of windex....it created a haze and looked like the plastic was ruined permanently. i then picked up meguires fog light cleaner at cdn tire and it's back to normal...just a tip for you guys who may make the same dumb mistake as me. :D

Thanks

drumshard 07-16-2008 01:41 PM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

Could be rad fluid. My water pump seized and spewed out brownish liquid with an oily consistency....

'04_A4 07-16-2008 02:20 PM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

Thanks Drumshard - I haven't thought about rad fluid leak. - I'll have the mechanic check the water pump as well. It was an oily consistancy...first I thot it was condensation but it was oily and leaves a big oil stain.

Thanks again. If anyone else has any idea what it could be please let me know.

Any tricks on washing - for inside or outside? I heard using the detergent woolite with water and a shammy. Anything for cleaning the leather and dash? ArmorAll gives me a headache.

Thanks

Very informative 1move, any idea where i can find bluetooth integration for A8 and cradle or the original V60 Motorola setup, outside of the dealer. Also can you close the trunk lid other than manual and/or the button at the trunk lid.

I would check genuineaudiparts.com or something along those lines, try googeling it first. If they do not stock it give them a call they can usually order it in, the other option would be german ebay, check eBay: Neue und gebrauchte Elektronikartikel, Autos, Kleidung, Sammlerstücke, Sportartikel und mehr – alles zu günstigen Preisen for some genuine cheaper parts and find someone that knows german. :D Kind of sucks not knowing what it says but you get some amazing deals if a buddy of yours knows german

as far as the trunk I think you are asking weather you can shut it electronicaly? I have not seen this on an Audi yet so my answer would be no as far as my knowledge goes in that region

Great Thread 1move! Has anyone replaced the Symphony 2 with a nav unit (RSN-E)? I'm looking to do so but it seems quite pricey.

Yes I have helped a friend do it pretty simple....it is on the pricy side but if you look at something after market it will run you about $300 cheaper then the OEM

Yeah that's true, although aftermarket could have more features i've yet to see one that looks as clean as the OEM.

I tried pushing and holding the lock and unlock buttons on my key to attempt to raise and lower my windows however it doesn't work. Do I need to reprogram my car to do it?

Car has to have this enabled through the vag-com software! Sorry it does not work. You should add to my reputation for the throttle body alignment :)

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

I am not sure if some of you are going to understand this bit functions but here it is this is taken from the ross tech site

In Module 46 - Central Convenience:

State Bit Dec. Function
ON 0 1 windows up with remote
ON 1 2 windows down with remote
ON 2 4 windows up with key in lock
ON 3 8 windows down with key in lock
ON 4 16 sunroof close with remote
OFF 5 32 sunroof open with remote (does not appear to work)
ON 6 64 sunroof close with key in lock
OFF 7 128 sunroof open with key in lock (does not appear to work)

So esentially if your coding is for example 11836 and you want to add the close sunroof function you would add 64 to that number so you are at 11900 and click do it!!!

Usually on the new vag-com program adding 64 adds windows up and down function as far as I remember I would have to double check

I have added Address 35 - Comfort Closing via Remote Control as well as Locking via Speed @ 15KM/hr to several B5 A4's, B5 S4's and C5 A6's. Check your model to see if this applies.

Thanks for that as mine only applies to B6's and onward, and I forgot about the b5's can you post the photo for the b6's and b7's if you have it handy?

Thanks

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

Yeah I just learned today that you need to program the car to get the window function to work. A friend of mine works for Audi and he said he would do it for me but he said Audi might be hesitant to do it for the simple fact that its unsafe and you could accidentally push the button and walk away not realizing all your windows are down. *shrug*

1move I already added reputation to that post :)

I would still want this done because a black car on hot days is brutal :/ Id like my car to be at least ventilated a little bit once i finally get to the driver door :)

has anyone tried the de-bosed?

Press and hold the menu button.... till you get to the Nav/ Radio or something menu and turn it all the way to zero and press the button again the system has been De-Bosed. Bass is louder

does it actually work and does it affect anything else?
