Hey, guys. This is an excellent thread! Thanks 1Move. I just purchased an 04 A4 Quattro 3.0L on Monday, and I take delivery today. I am very excited, and I will definitely do that throttle tip when I first get into it. Any other handy tips (ones that don't require Vag-Com) are always appreciated! I believe it comes with an owner's manual too :)

Hey, I noticed after turning on the turn signal, and right when I start the turn, there's a quick click noise (every time, both directions), and I don't mean the sound of the signal lever returning to normal position; it's before that. What is this noise, and is it normal?
Also, is there a way to get the headlights to turn on when I turn the car on at all times, and not just when it's night out (auto mode)? I'm refering to the xenon lights. Do those have to be on at all times here in Canada anyway? Thanks guys! Sorry for being a noob, lol.
Another thing I'd like to know: What are some cool after-market parts you can get for Audis? I'm not really refering to items that will increase performance, but anything handy, or just plain awesome.

1move 03-22-2009 11:56 PM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

The click you are reffering to is the 3 quick signal tap tap your signal and it will blink 3 times before auto shut off. Your DRL's are manditory for Canada which are your side markers and your fog lights. Auto mode is for xenon on and these should not be on at all times!

ProgMetalHead 03-22-2009 11:58 PM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

Hey, thanks, man! Basically, I should just leave the car in Auto mode then, and I'm assuming that the other lights come on on their own all the time, right?
I'm not too sure I understand the part about the signals, though.

In regards to throttle alignment, isn't stepping on the gas with the car off a bad thing? Does it not push air into places it shouldn't? Forgive me, I am a noob with this stuff!

Nope it is not a bad thing, as it is a process done by Audi as well! How can you push air in a closed loop system?

S4zAudihere 03-27-2009 03:39 PM

Re: Tips and tricks......for your audi

closed loop or not, it's all electronically controlled, with it off it's not pushing anything.
But it's ok we forgive you NOOB

What is a window pinch? Are you referring to when the windows go all the way up/down with just a push? My car does that if I press the windows to the second "click" quickly.

Also, is there a way to have the CD Player remain on after turning the car off without having to turn it on manually? I loved how my previous car would keep playing music until I opened the door!

I'd like to hear if anyone else has tried this on a 2.7t?

I "think" it did improve the responsiveness of the acceleration - especially when slowing down and then suddenly stepping on it. - but I need more convincing adn will try this again in a few months.

Ok - I trid the TBA again and it works. now I touch the gas peddle and I get a much quicker response, and mid range 40-100kmh I get much better response when I accelerate. This is a great tip and I will use it again and again.

Technically I'd like to understand why Throttle Body Alignment is required for the allroad - I've never heard of this before on other cars. Anyone got some insight to this? - thanks

I have answered this question already in a previous post I belive!
The window pinch is the regulation when you are shutting the window and have a hand in there it stops it from closing.

Glad it worked and glad I can help out! The reason for the throttle body is for fuel consumption and it memorizes your driving habits so it consumes less fuel this way. Basically when you reset it, it is without any memory so it starts over!

"it memorizes your driving habits" is called fuzzy logic. That is done within the ECM and TCM and doesn't really that much to do with throttle body adaptation. That adaptation is a "start and end" point. Fuzzy logic is intelligent programming that adjusts the engine management system, with transmission shift patterns according to the last driver. It is slightly adjustable by tapping the throttle pedal. In relative terms, it's block learn.

Fuzzy Logic Tutorial - An Introduction
First Drive: Audi TT DSG
Direct Shift » Blog Archive » 2009 Audi A4 Avant

Block Learn Multiplier and Integrator
is another way to look at it but remember, that it's GM propaganda.

Thanks 1Move - I drive 95% in town and I definitely feel the response change over the weeks- so I use this TBA once every 4 weeks - I love it.

Canadian law states that we have to have DRL (daytime runing lights) on any car built after 1998??? Not sure if that is the exact year but around there somewhere

Is there a way to change the lights being used for the DRL? As in can the fog light/parking light combo be disabled and the high beams alone be used as DRLs?

No not without any rewiring. Why would you want your highbeams as DRL's? They are illegal to drive on within the city limits and you can get a ticket for it, at least here in town I have heard of some cases not a 100%

My truck now uses the highbeams, reduced power, as the DRL's.....and I have some some newer A4's with the same setup here in TO.

"When the car is unlocked stick your hand where you usually open the trunk it will unlock and open automatically by pushing the handle underneath!"

Above from the original message!

Not sure I understand this one... surelly this is just a normal way of opening the trunk...

Explain!

Climate control seems to close sunroof from the rear vent position. Is this a malfunction or by design?
Same thing does not happen when roof is opened from the front.

Will making any changes to my 09 A4 void the warranty. I'd LOVE for the windows to open/close with the intelligent key. Anybody in Markham/Scarborough that'll do it for me?!

Also - i have the push button start and i read somewhere that it may even be possible to program the key to start remotely?

Whoa. That's awesome. I got my gauge test, seat belt silence and remote windows. Remote start would be wicked in winter.

if you don't have 2 minutes, just do it your way and start the car.
after that you will have all the time in the world to program your TB.

cheers to a great post.

Hi I'm New here, great thread.
I've had my O7 audi A4 2.0T since new but just recently stared looking at things online.

I read on this thread that there was some people in the GTA that were willing to do some VAG programming for others in the GTA, are those offers still open.
I'm not sure of all the things I want to add, however I would like to add the remote windows open/close, possibly the remote car starter (if that really exists) and my car is a USA car so the DRL and changing all the stuff over to KM and Celsius for the dash would be a must, I already changed the the climate control from F to C with the air recirculation button and the drivers side (+) button held together.

Thanks again
