Default Buying Locally vs. ECS Tuning

Guys,

I'm looking to buy a few parts such as:

- Cabin Pollen Filter
- K&N Filter
- 710N Diverter Valves
- SAMCO TBB
- V-Checker Scanner

Do you guys buy locally or do you use US based websites? If so, which seem to be the cheapest for shipping/handling/duty/brokerage fees?

Thanks!

-Geoff

I purchased the Aero wiper kit from ECS. The ordering and shipping went very smooth. However, the brokerage fee from UPS was a shocker. In the future, I will seriously consider ordering within Canada despite the strong dollar.

I've ordered from ECS many times. UPS fees are na$ty to get parts across border. One option is to ship parts to US side of border and go pick them up yourself if you are in proximity.

Note that ECS recently started a Canadian Bulk Ship program. If you want to participate, Canadian orders are que'd up and shipped once per week (fridays) and as a bulk ship, reduces brokerage costs are passed onto the consumer... still not "cheap" but definitely less cost than shipping one order at a time.

See bottom of main page ECS web site for more info:

ups charges are always out of this world... it kinda sucks to buy from anyone that doesn't offer discounted invoices...

I have found that sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes you can skip out on the fees by having your items air mailed. Quite frankly even if you do get hit with the fees, the US companies have so much competition that their prices are lower even with exchange rate and border fees. A gt2871r elim kit sells for like what, 3g in the states. Places here in Alberta are tryin to charge 5-7k for one, thats one hell of a markup.

USPS charges $5 to get small packages across border but there is no insurance or tracking. I've done it a few times successfuly but it's a little unnerving.

I just get places to ship as a gift, I buy it and get them to ship to my brother dad cousin as a gift from me. No duty, and barely ever a brokerage fee makes me a happy camper
