Well, the 4.2 is NA...thus pulls and pulls steadily vs. your punch in the chest boost feeling. Truth? A stock 4.2 S4 is faster than just about any B5 stage 0, 1 or 2. The feel is very different, but when they line up, the 'slow heavy' V8 S4 wins almost everytime. I've never seen a B5 beat a B6/7 S4 unless it had K04 or bigger turbos. Lots of B5 guys say the B6/7 feels slow, but at the end of the day, its faster so theres a lot to be said about 'feel' tricking you. If you race a 4.2 FSI S5 vs. the 3.0T cab, the 3.0T will get absolutely WALKED. The extra few hundred pounds is a killer. As I said, your 'feel' doesn't necessarily equate to actual performance. Listening to the 4.2 FSI all day is worth it alone while we're on the subject of feel. That 3.0T to me sounds like a Vespa scooter.

As for the 'gas consumption' of the 3.0T supercharged engine, it's pretty much identical to that of the S5 4.2 FSI engine. Both are pretty terrible. High teens MPG or about 13-15 litres/100km should be the average. Go check the S5 or B8 S4 forums around the internet and you'll see the 3.0T guys complaining about how the mileage is NOTHING like the EPA/dealer promises.
