yeah, an S4 engine pull is an art as well as a science.

I'd just take the car to VAST and let them deal.

we did an engine pulll in a private garage 3 weeks ago for installation of headers on an A6 4.2 down in Detroit. It took us about 16 hrs total work, but this was the first time it had ever been done on an A6, so we were re-working a few things (had to move the oil filter and have one custom made...had to move a hard coolant line and replace it...had to then have the guy's cat back cut up to mate up to the headers. All in all it was a ton of work, but that's cuz it was the first one.

The second one will be much easier (whoever does it).

I have to say the A6 with open headers and no catback attached...when it started up, I nearly **** my pants. It was SO loud. Headers sound fantastic. They bring a new level of mean to the cars. Add a catback with mufflers and a resonated section and it's about as clean and good as a car can sound. The weird thing? NO DRONE with headers...and 10-15% better fuel economy. No joke. So you save like $400/year on gas.

They're a work of art too. I met the guy who makes them, and saw what goes into him making them. Takes him like a whole day (not an 8hr day) of expert work and worldclass welding. They really are sensational.

I don't ever go to those Toronto meets...that's like 60km from my house. I do go to the GHAC meets once in a while though. I think I've been to like 3?

When's the next one? (now that we've destroyed this thread )

greater volumetric efficiency. Basically you're making the system more efficient, thus it works less to produce a certain amount of acceleration (or does the same work as before and produces more acceleration).

As a result you reap the rewards of better fuel economy and better torque. Gotta love that combo. There are a few guys with headers who talk about this. I started a thread once and a few people thought I was nuts...but not the headers guys...they all posted 'yup...saved 10%+ gas once I went headers'

if you have a manual, be careful about the following

1. the rev limiter is moved WAY up to like 7600. Keep it below 7000....they raise it just so that you don't hit the rev limiter during an important street race But...be careful, because the car with this tune and piggies will RIP through first gear MUCH quicker now, so be careful not to over-rev the car.

2. you must get OFF the clutch before you get ON the gas. In the stock car, throttle response is so mushy, you can ride the clutch while getting on the gas, but on the JHM tune if you ask for 40% throttle, you get 40% throttle, and as a result you'll be bucking in 1st gear like a pimply faced teenager who has never driven standard before. (happens to almost everyone when they first get the tune)

That's it though...have fun!

p.s. when accelerating shift at 6600-6700...that's where your car stops making good power so it's best to go up a gear and get into the meat of the curve again

CONGRATS MY MAN!
