Its on the top of the engine towards the back by the fire wall. If you take the cover off you will see what I'm talking about. Looks like a black canister.

Back of the firewall on the top of engine portion you can find the oil filter location of 2004 S4 B6 V8 looks like a black piece

Top of the engine back of the firewall
But beter get it fixed by a mechanic i advice not to waste your time
