Lousy Experience at Dealer

Just had my A6 in for a diagnosis of some problems and a spark plug change
at dealer in CT. The prices quoted for parts and also labor were outrageous
as compared to other dealers. In addition, I paid around $160 to replace 6
spark plugs and when I examined the engine later at home, found the spark
plugs were never changed.

After confronting the Service manager with the car and unchanged plugs he
gave me a refund! I'll be keeping far away from that dealership!

Hopefully you are all aware that service writers are usually on commission.

I bet we never hear from him again.
But if I were a betting man, I might suspect a dealer between North
Haven and Meriden.

Consider yourself lucky you are not in the UK. I took the local Audi
service manager out in my one-year old A4 when a fault could not be
diagnosed and after demonstrating the fault he started shouting at me. His
attitiude was so bad I wanted to stop the car, get out and walk away. BTW
I'm 6 foot and ~17 stone so walking away was to avoid kicking the little
weasel up and down the ******* road.

Note that I had not even said anything other than 'there is the fault', so
it's not like I was being abusive. In the UK it's much more a case of 'when
you've bought it then it is your problem', even when something is new;
dealers will claim black is white to avoid fixing anything.

Strange. My dealer in the UK can't be more helpful even writing to me to
check if I have any problems needing attention before the warranty runs out.

Which dealer are you using ?

Richard
