interesting

post that up on Audizine and lets see what the folks say. I'm betting you'll hear a different story.

The gas mileage on my A5 was incredible and yet it ripped. The S5; not so much in the gas mileage dept... but I liked the V8 and Stasis put it above average. Its not just the chip; Suspension, Rims, Brakes and Exhaust are pretty cool...
Stasis has stated to me that they would have a supercharger for the S5 this fall. (somebody else's hardware?)
I would have looked at APR , JHM or VF but they are not endorsed at the dealership with a 4-yr warranty.
$15,000? I'd pay $30,000 if it could just keep up with my Bimmer (No kidding).
I will contact Stasis and see if they can clarify some of the "issues" you've detailed. It could be an interesting conversation as it really sounds like you know what you are talking about... Do you work in auto performance?

ah, internet doesn't always convey context. Gotcha.

The JHM kit should help your S5 keep up with your BMW. They just ran 11.9 seconds on California 91 pump gas with their B6 S4 in house car and their Vortech supercharger kit. The car has a bunch of exhaust mods but was full weight...even had a babyseat in the back and some diapers. lol. It also has 130,000 miles on the odometer.

It's pretty awesome...I was there to help them install it on a B7 S4 a couple of months ago and I was dutifully impressed with the kit. I honestly don't think any of the other kits will touch it. The S5's internals are a bit stronger than the B6/7 S4 so they'll be able to take more advantage of the Vortech chargers massive upside. The TVS1320 is pretty much tapped out in running the 11.8-11.9 times APR ran on the RS4 and S5 respectively. Awesome result, but not ideal if you want to go further with your car.

For perspective, based on CFM ratings

Eaton M90 (VF, PES) = max CFM will support about 440hp of power at the crank
Eaton TVS1320 (APR) = max CFM will support about 500-510hp of power at the crank
Vortech (JHM) = max CFM will support 800hp+ at the crank.

That's not a misprint. JHM used a massive centrifugal unit for a couple of reasons

1. to ensure it's not being overwhelmed and heat soaked (a problem the M90 kits have)
2. to ensure that if you want to go with a built motor, the hardware in the kit won't need to be upgraded
3. to ensure that they used the most efficient blower out there, meaning they don't even need to run an intercooler, even though they're making about 425+ whp

That's pretty impressive. The APR kit works quite well too...and it should be noted that they called in an outside tuner to help them with the calibration on the RS4 kit (the first 4.2 FSI car they installed this on). That tuner? JHM's guy.

The JHM kit should cost under $10,000 although I don't want to overpromise something they haven't shared yet. I know they're offering the same kit INSTALLED on the B6/7 S4 for $8500 right now.

I have a silly question for everyone here.

I am new to after market exhausts for an automatic S4 B8, in order to get a slightly louder exhaust sound (perhaps the same sound as the V, do you necessarily need to change the "entire" exhaust system? end-to-end?

Are there any other options?

Basically what I want to do is a get a nice shinier stainless steel oval tips a tad bit bigger tips than the OEM and "slightly" louder sound to go with my hyper flow intake.

Thanks for your advice

You may want to read a little more as this is extremely common and if you still want more info, start a new thread. The OP was asking about ECU mods and has nothing to do with exhaust mods (plus the fact that you're somewhat hijacking someone else's thread although it was already hijacked re forced induction )

Hi Axel:

My post was from 2 months a go. I didn't read the original post in details. I saw the title which was very much relevant to my questions since both stasis and APR make exhaust.

By doing all these ECU upgrades and exhausts, what does this do to the engine oil and prevent it from overheating. What are the drawbacks of these upgrades to a supercharged engine?

This is what Pfaff explained to me. I don't know how accurate it is.

Apparently based on what they said, the S4 is built to handle around 450 Horse Powers, so everything whitin the car, all the parts, body, suspensions etc.. is built for this already. But from factory everything tuned down. So upgrades such as this shouldn't have any negative impact. You're simply unleashing what the car was built for.

I've had the stasis now for a few months I've noticed a very very small gas consumption increase but that's totally worth it.

150-160% of stock is the industry rule of thumb

sell a car making 350-360hp like the B8 could likely handle 525hp. Crank numbers of course. This jives as that's about 450-475whp, which is likely where the internals will start to get nervous.

See, Stasis stuff isn't Audi warranty approved. I'm sorry....it's a big myth. Stasis parts void your Audi warranty (i.e. SC = void. Tune = void). They come with a replacement warranty, offered by Stasis.

So here's the scenario - your Stasis supercharged S5 blows a piston through the wall or bends a rod and scores a cylinder wall making your block a 440 lb aluminium coffee table.

Audi says 'not our problem' and contacts Stasis for approval for Stasis to pay for it.

I don't know about you, but a shrinking company that is in Virginia...that doesn't sound like something I want to risk my car on especially if I'm being overcharged for the privilege.

But hey, I don't expect you to believe me. Instead, let's ask Johan De Nysschen, President of Audi of America...(we don't need to...he clarified this 2 weeks ago for the Audi world)
