Default Stassis or apr

Hello all Im in the last stage of ordering my car ! So excited was looking for some help in the color , and if I should order the stassis ecu upgrade and exhaust ? I thought about the idis white and the red and black interior with the carbon trim ! Any thought of witch intake I should get too , I plan to get the dealer to install the parts and send the ecu off too stassis for upgrade ! The car won't be here till may or June so I'm open to ideas on mods too money is no object in this case ! I want it to be turn key since I don't live near a Audi dealer ! Any ideas on color choice I was torn between. Phantom black and white and if i should get the two color interior ? Or black
Thanks

Simple

Stasis
Highs = warranty (supposedly) covered by Stasis
Lows = slower turnaround; 91 octane only; no program switching, warranty won't be worth **** if Stasis goes bust. Audi doesn't warranty the Stasis work...Stasis does, so if you have a problem while in warranty, and it's related to the tune, Audi will fix...but Stasis will pay. If Stasis goes bust (who knows...Lehman did...Citigroup did...etc.) who will pay then? Audi will say 'sorry, your warranty is not valid because you are tuned'

For the record the Stasis tune is an APR 91 tune re-branded as 'Stasis' under a license agreement. I think Stasis is a dead company...they're not even tuning anymore, just drop shipping other people's parts.

APR
Highs = 91, 93, 100 octane available (program switching coming in a few months); stock and valet files also available; quicker turnaround
Lows = no warranty protection for tune related trouble (however they CLAIM that their tune, if you switch to the 'stock' file, is undectable by even the dealer. I doubt that personally, but who knows.

Pricing is about the same.

The turnaround thing is because to get a STASIS ecu...your ECU flies to Stasis in Virginia...then they ship it to Alabama to have APR tune it...then it ships back to Stasis who brand it 'Stasis'...then it flies back to Toronto or wherever you are (BC). As a result the Stasis turnaround time is adding a few days that your car is down. APR tuning is ship to APR, tuned, shipped back to you. Simple. Further, if you were APR, and you were busy, don't you think you'd prioritize the tunes you're selling for $1500 of which you keep all $1500, vs. the tunes you're sub-contractor on and making arguably 1/3 as much?

So I need to buy the car find a dealer who carries APR then order the parts and have them install them ! I just figured get it all done at the same place , but if the APR is the superior brand I'll go that route ! Any thought on color I was thinking white because the dealership had that one coming in but my gut keeps telling me phantom black ! Arrr I go to the dealer monday !

p.s. if you think 'The Smoking Tire' lends any credibility to a company, you need to seriously rethink that. These are the guys who raved about the VF Engineering S4/RS4 supercharger kits. lol.

I would be surprised if the Stasis tune would harm the engine, you are still running a mild tune; and unless you are at the track every night you would/should rarely be running in the red. I have had Challenge package in a 2010 V8 S5 for over a year with no issues. The smaller turbos are a lot more fuel efficient but run a lot hotter tunes. The dealer promotes Stasis so they have a vested interest that the product works. I can't wait for their S5 Supercharger - Hopefully this fall.

B8 S4 and B8 S5...but you're talking smaller turbos?

I'm lost.

and...what supercharger are you waiting for? So far there is a PES kit (skip), an MTM kit (extortionate and they won't share any performance proof) and an APR kit (excellent kit, somewhat expensive at $15,000).

JHM is testing their kit...and that's it. Stasis? lol. They don't make anything...they re-sell other people's stuff. They might re-brand a VF kit like the R8 kit posted above, but seeing that VF has all but abandoned their B6/7 S4/RS4 4.2 plans (and S5) I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm hearing very different stories on this. Stasis is a dead company? Apparently they used to use APR tunes until they had their own engineering complete, which from what I hear is now the case. I was quoted a 3 day turnaround (from BC).

All due respect sakimano...
What I was referring to was the smaller engines, meaning the 2.0 and the 3.2 where they manage to push out a lot more HP - running a lot hotter mix.
The gas mileage on my A5 was incredible and yet it ripped. The S5; not so much in the gas mileage dept... but I liked the V8 and Stasis put it above average. Its not just the chip; Suspension, Rims, Brakes and Exhaust are pretty cool...
Stasis has stated to me that they would have a supercharger for the S5 this fall. (somebody else's hardware?)
I would have looked at APR , JHM or VF but they are not endorsed at the dealership with a 4-yr warranty.
$15,000? I'd pay $30,000 if it could just keep up with my Bimmer (No kidding).
I will contact Stasis and see if they can clarify some of the "issues" you've detailed. It could be an interesting conversation as it really sounds like you know what you are talking about... Do you work in auto performance?
