I really like my Conti pro contacts for the summer. I think they offer a reasonable compromise between grip, durability, and ride comfort. I've used pirellis (I can't remember the exact model) on other cars and I didn't find that they were worth the extra money - they wore out very fast and I found the sidewalls to be very stiff and this resulted in a much less comfortable ride.

I've run blizzak, gislaved, and marangoni tires in the winter and I like them all - the gislaveds are really loud when the snow has been cleared and the tires are in direct contact with the pavement. In fact, the first time I had gislaveds on cleared pavement, the noise was so loud I though a wheel bearing was toast.
The marangoni were my favourite, they provided me with awesome grip, lasted the longest and were the quietest on cleared pavement.

This is about experience and evidence yet it is about Economic Reality and Market Niches.
All of these brands are on the market so they survived their competition, by producing tires of specific traits. People buy all of them. It is like with TOYOTA - very successful company that produces cars based on company philosophy.

The car must use little gas so it must be light, it is light so it is dangerous during accidents, so it is depraved of acceleration above 120 km/hr, so the drivers do not get into accidents.
Most of the drivers do not wish to drive above 120 km/hr and so they buy it.
The company makes sure that the car is well rusted out after 12 years so the consumer goes to buy a new shiny one.
It works!
I know whole families that never bought anything else than "ONE GOOD YEAR".

I like to look at this

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=51c6aa6658

This shows a Jap 4X4 at first bouncing aroud and than look at the BMW rear wheel drive towards the end.

Dear AudiMontreal;
Thank you for the link!
It just confirms my opinions about the Michelin coming on top of it.

Have you noticed that Continentals added the word "contact" to the brand? This is exactly what they need - contact between the road and the tire as I said before.

For Bridgestone I tested them on Port Alberni - Toffino Higway at 150 - 180 km/hr.
This is an extreme winding mountain road. The tires handled well however produced limited slip during extreme braking, which can be handled. They will not perform as Michelin when you have a knife to your throat. I discarded any notion of purchasing them again since they deflated on the curves. My tire pressure went from 40 psi to 20 psi on 100 km stretch.

We have Michelin Touring on our A6. It is an overall good tire, all year long, but only to 190 km/hr. Afterwards it starts shaking and I can feel that it does not want to go any faster.

For Good Year there is no need to waste time.

We can all agree that there are a few posters that have no idea what they're talking about. Back on track ... Although I'm not an advocate of "no season" tires, I undersatnd the Conti DWS is a great tire ...

I'd love to just ignore him, but how many people who don't know any better are taking this his advice?

Do we have a psychiatrist doing anger management for compulsive obsessed behavior on this forum?

It sucks that the Falken 912s replaced the 512. Can't find the 512s anywhere now.
912s aren't as good as the 512s in rain/cold.

I hear they did something to the compound from the 512s to the 912s
now they suck in the rain.
Actual NTB employees saying this.

Really guys "All Seasons" on a performance car.....it just does'nt make sense.

If you live in an area that gets snow then put on snow/winter tires.
The cheapest low budget snow tires will run circles around the best all seasons in snow and ice. The same can be said for summer tires.

The only people who should run all seasons are the same lazy fools who only change their oil every 5 yrs.

Just my opinion you may have a wrong one that differs.

Ha, ha. I like that. My limited experience is having Continental all-seasons on our 2007 A4 and finding them quite good during the 2 winters we had the car. Going to Calgary one very snowy day in January for service I was given a 2009 A4 loaner with Goodyear all-seasons and thought that the car didn't have working quattro.

Goodyear sb One Good Year and than it is disapointing.
When leaving car wash and there is soap on them there is no grip at all, it is like driving on pure ice.

They are Quite good on rain thou, but when it comes to ice and snow FORGET IT!
