Importing from USA.

Re: Importing from USA.
Hi. I just joined the forum today as I'm considering importing a brand new 2009 Audi A4 Avant from the US next year a couple of months before my Honda lease runs out in July 31, 2009.
Can you please refer me to your contact? I would like to know if he can arrange for me to lease a brand new Audi that's originally from the U.S.
I would also like to find out if Vancouver Audi dealerships would honor the warranty if it's originally a US car?

Re: Importing from USA.
Just (28/07/200 bought and imported an Audi TT Roadster 225 and I'm puking on the daytime running light issue here in Regina. Does anyone have any experience in dealing with a coversion that's acceptable to pass inspection? Thanks for the info on the battery tie down. Just checked and there is nothing to stop it from sliding around.....suggestions? Appreciate any advice.

Do you know if the dash is the same as the a4? Look all over google for audi tt DRL mod someting like that. Go crappy tire get a universal tie down kit see what would fit and bolt it down

Re: Importing from USA.
I have now imported and registered my A3 and managed to find someone with VAG-COM locally who was willing to help switch on the DRLs. This literally took 5 minutes and the local Audi dealerships wanted to charge $300+tax. I guess I'll be taking my car to the US for servicing now.
The most frustrating part of the process was waiting over a week for RIV to send the Form 2 while my new Audi was sat in the garage unable to be driven. Overall it was well worthwhile and I'm happy with the car and my decision to import. I still don't know how Audi USA can legally refuse to sell Canadians new cars though.

Re: Importing from USA.
Hi and thanks,
I suspect the dash electronics (diagnostics and little dash virtual reality center) are exactly the same but that is a guess. At the place I bought the car I also checked out an 02/03 A4 Cabriolet that was mint, 18000 miles and reasonably priced. Almost bought it but I made the trip to LA for the TT and that's what I brought home. The 1.8T in the A4 is the same I'm sure and I suspect the electronics are a mirror image but......... I'll do the checking and let you know, appreciate the help............warren
