help 2004 audi a4
Hi I was just wondering if anyone can help me out. From what I see I'm guessing I have a problem with my head gasket. I pulled out my spark plugs from my 2004 audi a4 and all four are flooded with oil. Does anyone have any suggestions and can suggest a good specialist to me. I am from Maple Ridge BC thanks

Re: help 2004 audi a4
a bad head gasket will not get oil on the plugs. the head gasket separates the head from the block. the plugs screw into the head, and have nothing to do with the block. however, the valve cover gasket is in two parts. one seals the outer edge of the valve cover, and the other stops oil from getting into the spark plug hole. i would almost guarantee this problem is due to a bad valve cover gasket.

My thoughts exactly. If you look at my posts on the C5 A6 forum you'll see I suffered the same issue with my 2.8 30V engine. I replaced the cam chain tensioner gaskets and valve cover gaskets and all is well. If you had head gasket issues you'd be looking at a very, very costly job. You'd have overheating issues and all sorts of problems. Valve cover gasket failure on an Audi is normal, headgasket failure isn't.
By the way, I'm in Coquitlam and to replace valve cover gaskets are simple. If you do decide to replace them there aren't very many shops I recommend. Take a look at my recommendations if you decide to go that route.
