Default S4 B-Pillar removal / replacement.

B Pillar molding removal / replacement.

So I've noticed a few people including me, have been asking about to remove the B-Pillar moldings on our S4's.

Well since mine need replacing and I'm in the process of getting a newer pair. I thought I'd go out in the garage
and tackle this myself.

First collect your tools. You won't need much. I used a socket wrench with a long extension (to keep the wrench away from paint / body)
and two torx sockets. A T-20 and T-25.

First off, pick a side to work on. I started with a drivers side. Open both doors all the way as far as you can.

Look at the bottom of the molding and you'll see this plastic piece at the bottom. It's only clipped in. So pull
up from the bottom. Be very careful, the clips at the top are fragile and will break.

Here's a picture of the back of the molding piece. You can see how it attaches to the car. The clips slide into the bottom
of the molding and the little stub at the bottom just snaps in.

Now that the plastic piece is removed you'll see the two Torx screws that were hiding underneath. Use
your socket wrench and the T-25 torx socket and simply remove the two bolts. Be careful of the one closest
to the door. I used a bigger socket and it will touch the paint.

So if you're worried grab yourself some painters tape and just put a piece down the seam of the door.
Here they are removed:

Now you can see the bolts holes on the bottom exposed and the clip on the top.

As you can see it gets pretty dirty under there.

So now's a time to grab all your favourite cleaners and go to town.

Before you start cleaning you might want to remove the top clip like I did. Once again use your Socket wrench this
time using the T-20 Torx wrench.

Once everything is cleaned up and waxed to your liking, re-install the top clip with the T-20 torx screws.

Then simply reinstall your new molding, bolt it back on with the T-25 torx screws and reattach the plastic trim piece and done.

Easy as pie.

I'm in the U.S. and was wondering where you got your B pillars? When I bought my car the PO had put those fake chrome pieces on the B pillar and the back corner of the rear door window, and I want to take it off, but if I mess it up I want to be able to at least replace the B pillar
