Default 2005 fog light replacement-bumper removal???

Read another thread and it indicated that in order to change a burned out front fog light bulb the bumper has to be removed and it's a $200 fix at the dealer. Is there no other way????

Here is the instructions for the B7 RS4 - I believe the grill surrounding the fog lights pops out on our B7 A4's as well... It's raining out otherwise i'd run out and take a look - maybe later

Ok I had to be quick as its still pouring out anyhow I took a quick picture and drew some some cheesy red lines to explain. The black trim ring around the fog light is snapped into place (where the arrows are) on the top and bottom with two snaps. At first glance it looks like one piece but I suspect once you pull this off that you can remove enough to get at it. It was raining too much otherwise i would have pulled it apart and took some more pictures. Unfortunately you cant get at it from underneath (the only other alternative would be to remove the headlight and get access from above). Considering the day time running lights are the fog lights and probably need replacing more frequently - they sure didnt design that around ease of access!

I had the same problem, This is probably the worst designed part of the car, taking the front bumper off to change a fog light? what were they thinking? probably they wanted the audi dealers to make good money out of it. If you couldnt take out the bumper urself, find an audi specialized bodyshop, and they may able to fix it cheaper than the dealer. Good luck

Do i need to remove the whole bumper? I thought I just need to remove the plastic cover to gain access to the fog light.

You can take off the plastic cover, the new problem are the three screws. They are installed on the inside of the bumper. You can not get to them without removing the bumper.

I just bypassed all of this and reached in behind the bumper and changed the fog lights. You might really small hands to accomplish this or your hands might get a little cut up.

Hope this helps anyones..
