Whining/howling noise when I lift off the gas pedal

Re: Whining/howling noise when I lift off the gas pedal
My 2011 Audi Q7 does the same on acceleration/decelaration.
If found this : go at the site,
audiq7driveshaft dotcom (sorry, as I am new here they don't allow me to post web adress)
The description of the noise I hear is the same...
Maybe this is the cause of our concern....?
Tomashek: Any new developements on our Q5?

MKZ is a great car Thomas congrats!
If you remember me I bought my 2.0T 2011 around the same time as you did 4 years ago.. and I started the oil consumption trend on this forum.. for me they fixed the problem and I never heard a peep or squeak from my breaks. I guess I was lucky in that department. I now have a 2015 Q5 TDI just got it about 3 weeks ago, so far no problems to report. (cross my fingers..) I was also considering another car manufacturer, looked at BMW X5d but it wasn't destined. long story.. Good luck with your new MKZ.

Glad they fixed your brakes, maybe there is hope for Jill after all... Out of curiosity, do you remember what they've done to fix it?
Congrats on your new TDI!

Re: Whining/howling noise when I lift off the gas pedal
Actually believe it or not I never had an issue with my breaks. I changed them at around 50,000km's with original OEM Audi parts cost me 300$ for the pads alone and installed them myself with a friend, and did just over 103,000km's without ever hearing a sound!!
I find it amazing that so many on this forum are have break issues, so far cross my fingers no break issues to report on my new 2015 Q5 TDI and I have 850km's
I did however have oil consumption issue, they gave me a loner vehicle for 2 weeks and completely re-overhauled my engine. I went in one day to see my Q5 and the mechanic showed me the inside of my engine it was filled with tar like residue. Long story short they replaced all my pistons, rings and everything.. and never had an issue with oil consumption after that.
My guess is that to speed up production Audi used to use non original parts on some of their vehicles so they could get them out of the factory faster and we the consumers were left with all kinds of issues. When I was waiting for my 2011 Q5 in summer of 2010 I asked my dealer why my Q5 delivery date was postponed to a later date and they told me that Audi was having delays with their Suppliers and they had parts on back order. As silly as it sounds that what they told me.
In the end they fixed my oil consumption issue and that's why I gave Audi a second chance.

Glad your dealer fixed oil consumption, I guess your dealer is a keeper. Did you have to push hard for that overhaul?
MY2009-2012 have issue with oil consumption, so I think now problem is gone for new models.

Re: Whining/howling noise when I lift off the gas pedal
My dealer asked I bring my car in for an oil consumption test and after the test they suggested that I bring my car in for an engine overhaul. They said all Audi's with oil consumption issue must have the engine overhauled. Who was I to argue ?..
I never heard a Whining / Howling noise.. I guess I was lucky in that department as well. But the oil consumption issue did **** me off I must admit and as a result, I almost bought a BMW X5d..
I totally understand your decision to but an MKZ, my neighbour has one and loves it..! It sure looks nice too, enjoy it!

Re: Whining/howling noise when I lift off the gas pedal
Got my Q5 TFSI 2,0 early last winter, and I drove with close windows.
Now I opened them (spring) and I notice the 'crrrr... cr..cr' noise when
coming to a stop (releasing gas pedal). (like scratching a spring
with a pencil). The noise is consistent and is almost as long the car
decelerate. I can hear it close-by walls and curbs, when the sound reflects back better.
I guess is related to transmission. If I drive in 'S' is less noticeable, and if I
put the car in neutral (when decelerating) the noise quite goes away.
Anyone encountered same problem.
Thank you.
