Question Wash mitt and snowbrush ...

Hi guys,

We got our Q5 last Thursday night and it's time to really clean it and not just rinse it down...

We're afraid to use our current wash mitts. And that's when we thought about the "snowbrush"... We are going to have to use a snowbrush at some point...

What do you use for both?

BTW - Our Q5 is black with the black styling pack. We did get the xzillon paint protection and we'll have to get more of the stuff because it does a great job of removing marks (noticed a few when we picked it up and the dealer use that to remove them).

I currently use generic white terry cloth towels to apply the car wash soap (Meguiars). I'm cautious not to use a back and forth motion (trying to minimize swirls marks). Rinse the towel before dunking it back into the bucket of soap. Work the car top to bottom. I've tried a variety of cheap (i.e. less than $20) microfiber towels to dry the car...not as effective as I'd like, but passable. I notice some residual lint, which may be magnified on your black ride.
As for snowbrush (generic), I use with confidence on the windows, but on the body, I only brush off the loose snow (i.e. the snowbrush never or barely touches the paint).
I recall reading some forum discussions on both issues, including a member who wraps the snowbrush bristles with a towel.

War city, I tnk they are worried about using a snow brush to remove snow from their vehicle next winter.

I have a brilliant black A4 and will be using my snow brush this coming winter. Honestly, I will try to use it as little as possible, but know that we just cannot get away from using them in our winters here.

Thanks guys! Never thought of shamwow...

I try to park indoors during winter, but this year I'm stuck parking outdoors for work. So, I'm going to have to use a snowbrush...

For washing, I have been using the two bucket method. I purchased two grit guards like the ones that eShine (site sponsor) sells, and then ntwo five gallon buckets from home depot. Use a good soap, one bucket is your wash bucket, the other is your rinse bucket. Scrub your wash mitt or sponge on the grit guard to dislodge any grit or debris in the rinse bucket, then do the same in the wash bucket. As well, I have started using a foam gun to get a good application of soapy water on the car prior to using the wash mitt or sponge on it.

Hope this helps. If you search for two bucket wash method, I am sure you will find many good resource pages out there.
