Q5 - Tow Package?

Re: Q5 - Tow Package?
Being an aftermarket hitch & harness, I guess it's not integrated with your MMI? Otherwise, you're happy with Monroe's workmanship? No error messages on your MMI in terms of burnt bulbs, etc.? How long did they take for the install?

You're correct, it doesn't integrate with the MMI. So when I back up I have to manually turn off the assist to avoid all the beeping from it seeing the trailer. Also, I don't believe their is any dynamic adjustment being done like with the Audi installed version. But given the size of the trailer I tow, and the additional cost associated with having the Audi version, I was fine with after market. There's definitely no problems errors, lights, etc.
I had the install done as part of the delivery, so I'm not sure how long it took them. I'm pretty sure it can be done in a single day. You might try calling Monroe directly to see what their estimate would be. I'm pretty sure there was some mark-up added to my price by Audi as well.
Good luck, and keep us posted!

Steve,
It appears a 2007 Q7 hides the main wiring harness behind the rear right fuse block making access extremely time consuming! Now I'm thinking a control module from Audi may be the better option.
Also, how do you toggle the assist on & off? My warning chimes have gone mute!!!
Thanks in advance, Ballfire

Ballfire,
The Q5 has a parking assist button on the dash (a P with some radar lines coming from it). Pressing this turns the assist on and off. It also comes on automatically when in reverse and turn off after you drive forward. I hope this helps.

Can anybody post pictures of the dealer installed trailer hitch (close up of the rear bumper pls.) maybe include how much they are charging for this.
