Default Q5 TDI - Add S-Line?

I'm getting the (Canada) Q5 TDI with:
- Technik trim (higher one)
- Nav package w/ parking system
- Tire pressure system
- Load-through provision

For me, this is quite a nice upgrade from the base model. Noteable missing, though, is the S-Line option. My brother is somewhat trying to convince me to add it on, and I'm wondering what you guys think?

- The sports seats would be nice - I felt they were more comfortable and I think they probably would be for longer drives too?
- Steering wheel was cooler/nicer to use
- Larger wheels make a less comfortable ride, correct?
- Everything else is just cosmetic?
- WHAT is "s line interior"?

For a $2,200 upgrade (or $3,100 for extra things I don't even understand - adaptive dampening, drive select)... I don't understand the "value" of this upgrade. Am I missing something?

S-Line interior is just stitching that is put in on the Leather seats.

I believe its special "S-Line" stitching and there might be some color effects on the seats..so its somewhat multi-colored (matches of course.)

You might get some other interior effects as well on the dash and the doors (though I am not sure.)

larger wheels will make the car look sportier but your wheels will be more sensitive to bumps on the road - also curb rash. If you are driving your large expensive wheels through rocky areas, expect your wheels/rims to be scratched pretty quickly..and of course larger wheels are at higher risk of bending and so forth.

The above is from my experience. I am also not an expert and I am sure there are many car nerds that will scoff at what I have written.

Also - congratulations on your order or the fact you are considering an Audi

When it comes to options on this vehicle, I think S line is one of the better values for the money. Love the seats, steering wheel (would be better if it was heated) and paddle shifters( use them a lot and find myself looking for them when I drive other vehicles) Drive select is fun to mess with and it is neat to mix and match suspension, engine/transmission, steering configurations. On the other hand, you will probably be quite happy in comfort mode for 90% of your driving.

i would drop to Progressive instead of Technik (save 4500$)

add back pano roof for 2000$

Add sline without drive select for 2200$

plus save 300$

I never saw the value in paying 2500$ for advanced key, heated rear seats, side assist and adaptive lights

thats how i specced mine (premium, nav, pano, sline)

S-Line is pretty much all cosmetics until you step up to the SQ5 where it's a totally "different" car. I have the 2012 Q5 with the S-Line and it came with the drive select option. Basically what it does is give you the option of controlling how tight/soft you would like to have the suspension, adjust the responsiveness of the throttle, and the stiffness of the steering wheel. It's something that most drivers don't really care about or need, unless you are tracking your car all the time.
