Default Panoramic roof in cold climates?

Hi,

I'm about to order a Q5 and debating on the panoramic sunroof. No question it is a nice accessory but it is pricey and I'm wondering about its insulation in cold climates.

I've read a lot of posts about how it makes the car hot during the summers in warm weather climates but how is it during the winters in cold climates? Any problem with squeaks and rattles like on some Q7s? Or, have they worked those issues out.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated.

I don't think temperature would be an issue. Even though I don't have the panoramic I do have the sunroof. When the sun is shining I either open it up or slide the inside cover. As for any squeaks and rattles I read that if you go to the drugstore and purchase glycerine and apply it on the rubber there would be no squeaks or sticking to rubber issues.

I have it in my Jetta sportwagen. No regrets. No issues so far with either cold or hot weather. I say go for it.

My wife has pano in her Tig. So far no issues at all. Great feature from appearance point of view, but pretty much useless from driving perspective. That is why I have went with no pano in my Q5.
Having said that, if you have someone seating at back seat - it does look great!

No issues with the pano roof on my A3... I even open it sometimes in the winter to get some fresh air in the car with the heat blasting.

I would definitely regret if I didn't get it.

Well, thanks for the advice. Just ordered my Q5, with the panoramic roof. I just had this feeling that I'd regret it I didn't get it.

I am such a big fan of pan roof if Q5 didn't offer it I would have even bought a Q5.

Didn't care for it when I first got it..........one trip to the mountains on a sunny day to go snowshoeing when it was -25 and wow what a view and RED CSX no issues with the temp. Now occasionally on the warm days I open the thing as wide as it will go.
