Go with the 3m paint edge protection. I have had it in the past it works especially on the front hood.

Also I found it cheaper to buy tires in Canada than Tire Rack and importing costs. I went with 18 inch Micheline xI winter tires. I am going to see how they work vs downsizing to 17 inch. I bought all my tires and rims in Canada and saved the shipping charges with no hassels with guarantees on the tires. The package for 4 rims and tires was just under $1300 about the same or less than importing. I had the shop try the rims first to see how they fit and no problems no shims or adaptor rings. Ready for Winter.

Regarding the paint protection, i've heard horror stories about paint protection done at the dealership. I'm kinda scared having someone scratch my car's paint. Especially since it is my first new car. Plus it is a black car, it can show more scratches if not done properly...

Did any of you guys had a paint sealant applied right after delivery? I have read that it is recommended to help protect a new car's paint...What do you guys think?

Thanks!
I got the Zylon paint protection added at the dealership before delivery. If they scratch it, they must fix it. Mine's black (with the black styling pkg) and had no scratches. Guess it depends on the dealership.

Ridgeback, were did you go for your package? What kind of rims (black steel rims or are they aluminum)?

I'm getting 18" since we currently have the 20". Had 18" on the Lexus and had no problems. I would assume that 17" could be a little cheaper. Just have the dealer package on hold - but with your post, might go a different way.

I did check out several auto supply shops. I did get a quote from the USA, Tire Rack. I even looked at Costco. What I found was most Tire suppliers have a deal now buy 4 get $70.00 off.

Belive it or not I bought my Rims and Tires at Canadian Tire Corp in Barrie.
The rims are polished aluminum I paid $131.25 for the rims.
The tires are Michiline 235/60R18 Latitude xi2 tires at $135.00 each the total bill including balancing was 1338.33.
I have no pictures to post but the tires will be on the car next week so I may try to post a shot of the rims. The way I look at it Canadian Tire is a no hassle place to deal with and the tires are guaranteed. A frind of mine did buy from the USA Tire rack got lesser quality and the side walls of the tires he has are now cracking. Its not worth trying to save a 100 bucks verses buying in Canada with a warrenty.

Regards
Mike

I only like the 3M hood edge protector. All the rest is in my opinon fluff to get your cash.
My Audi just has the front hood protected and from past experiance that's all I need. It works fine.

Get a good set of Weather Guard floor mats and save your carpest that way. Fron and rear suggested I have them both.

Thanks for the quick reply ridgeback. That's what others have recommended as well. But I also want the paint sealant. You think I could negotiate the price more? Or is the paint sealant just a " wax " from the dealer?

I was thinking of buying a set of weathertech floor mats. I've never had those before, is that the same as weather guard floor mats?

Sorry I always get the name wrong it is WeatherTech They fit like a glove. In my opinion I don't see any reason to buy paint protection. Get a good bottle of wax if it makes you feel better.

I would still go with the 3M hood protector to save the chip damage over time. Just as a point of interest. I asked the dealer if I should get the car oil sprayed he said NO. It would void the warrenty. I have a friend with an older Audi 9 years old and it looks as good as new and has none of the paint protection. It is all in the head to get you to spend spend spend.

Regards
Mike

Hi warcity, i tried bargaining with them over the phone, but they wouldn't budge on the price. I was offered $ 1,900 for a set of 18' wheels and tires, $ 100 discount if i get both 3M window tint ( $ 249 ) + 3M stoneguard ( $ 399 ) = from $ 648 to $ 548. plus i will be getting audi care ( $ 750 ).

So total is $ 3,198 + tax.... is this reasonable?
