im thinking of buying a q5 from the us. my lease is up in a month. i think i can pick up a q5 fully loaded except the s line package for about 54k after all the duty and taxes..what do u guys think...

There is no question about saving money up front by buying US. However, you should factor in the travel costs and lost time in car hunting. Also buying US means cash deal, you should consider the costs of borrowing if you need third party financing. On top of that, you should adjust down the initial savings due to the fact that resale value of US imports are typically lower than comparable local cars. As a result, the 'real savings' may not be as high as you have thought.
I would not doubt for a moment that there are real savings, as the Can$ is approaching parity. However, you would be the one to decide if the 'Real savings' worth your time and trouble in importing a 'near new' vehicle.

Also there are some subtle differences to the US spec vehicles you might consider, 2.0t is not available with sline, heated seats which is more or less standard on our cars is an option i believe.
