Default 2009 Q5 Recall

Dec. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Volkswagen AG’s Audi luxury division is recalling about 40,000 Q5 sport-utility vehicles worldwide to fix an interior-trim component that may come loose when side head-protection air bags deploy.

The recall, affecting models built from December 2008 through May 2009, involves replacing faulty attachments on side columns’ plastic coverings to reduce the risk of trim breaking free and injuring occupants, Stephan Oeri, a spokesman for Ingolstadt, Germany-based Audi, said in a phone interview today.

The flaw was detected through internal testing and “there were no incidents with customers,” Oeri said. Any repairs will take half an hour at most to complete, he said, declining to specify which company supplied the component. He also declined to estimate the repair program’s cost to the carmaker.

More information if you are interested: 2009 Q5 Recall: VOLKSWAGEN SAFETY RECALL NO. 70D4/J6 - Audizine Forums

I didn't post it here because Audi Canada hadn't started the campaign yet.

I think if the airbags deploy you have other things to worry than a pillar coming loose LOL - I am kidding this is good information and I am glad they caught it before any driver casualties. I just made the cut mine is an August manufacturer.

I'd be pissed if anyone hit my side, the last thing on my mind as I grab a baseball bat would be the trim around my door! lol
