Anyone else excited about the A1?
This is is my dream car, anyone else excited about it? it's perfect for people like me who like small premium hatches (the mini cooper needs competition!)
i can't post URL yet, but if you search autoblog for "a1 concept" you will get lots of info on it.
"Power comes courtesy of a 1.4-liter TSFI engine, making 150 HP and mated to an S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox. While that combination is nothing to get too excited about, it's what's behind it that is. A 41 HP electric motor is mounted on the rear axle, able to produce 147 lb.-ft. of torque when lying on the long pedal. With the new motor residing out back, this gives the A1 plug-in capability, allowing lithium-ion batteries to be charged and giving a 100 km range in pure electric bliss."
I'd happily pay 40-50K for something electric like this (no gas required in workday commutes).
I'm doubtful something as cool and expensive as an electric motor would make it to production, but I'd be happy with gas powered sub 30K car as well.
There's probably alot of Audi owner who think this is watering down the Audi name too much, but there's alot of people driving mini coopers out there and BMW isn't really suffering because of it.

Re: Anyone else excited about the A1?
I think the smart car and mini need some competition... now only if they could shoehorn the v10 bi-turbo from the RS-6 into it... that'd be some performance... lol...
I wish Audi would bring their diesels here...

I would love this car ASAP. Quattro in such a small package would be awesome (at a lower price than the TT though).
If it came in a diesel that would be icing on the cake. Come on Audi lets do this thing.
