n00-b member checking in
Hi all,
I joined this epic forum today with high hopes of benefiting from the vast knowledge all the wonderful members on here have acquired over the time they've owned these wonderful pieces of german engineering and hoping that one day I would be able to contribute to the success and prosperity of this forum and community as a whole.
I was just recently looking at an 2003 A4 in Calgary and was wondering if anyone has any tips for what to watch for.
sorry for the long title
Thank you for your time
Regards,
EpicYuzer

Assuming you check for the usual things you would ANY other vehicle, pertinent to the B6 I would look to see if the front bumper lines up or not (if it doesn't, ask why and hope the answer is "I had the waterpump and timing belt done" because this is music to new audi owners' ears).
Check behind the engine right under all the PCV and chain tension cover for pink-ish white residue and/or oil, these are signs that you need to replace your coolant flange and/or chain tensioner gasket.
Open up the oil cap and stick your finger in there and see if you can scrap anything off the edge of the "add oil" hole and also smell it. You don't want anything thick and dark brown/black to be on your fingers and you don't want anything smelling like coolant.
If the vehicle is eligible for any of the recalls, see if they were done.
