Default 2003 tt coupe windshield replacement suggestions?

Hey all,

I was driving on the 400 today and a monster stone smacked right into my windshield. What a mess, ill make it through the winter but I am definitely replacing the windshield in the spring.

Does anyone have suggestions as to where I should get the windshield replaced?
Any ideas on OEM Audi vs OEM approved aftermarket replacement?\

Thanks

Why not try the typical Apple or Speedy auto glass shops, they can do it just as good as the dealer I'd guess, I don't think there would be any real quality difference. Being our vehilcles is not that common, you may want to talk to them a few weeks before you plan to replace it, they may have to order one in.

Were you planning on shelling out your own money or claiming it with your insurance? Quality should be very comparable as these items usually are regulated to be in compliance with current road safety laws. But if I were going to claim it with my insurance, I would take it to the dealer and insist on OEM parts only (cause "I" would know it was an OEM Audi part!) and pay only the windsheild deductible. If I were going to pay for it myself, I will shop around and find a shop that can explain (and prove to me) that their glass is just as good as OEM. Just my $0.02!

I used to work in a glass shop and install auto glass.

When it comes to VW/audi products, more often than not, when we got glass from our supplier that was "aftermarket", it still came in as Sekurit brand glass, which is OEM for Audi. Only difference being that it did not have the audi logo on it, beyond that, the glass was from the same mould, same supplier.

If you go aftermarket, just insist that you do not get a "PGW" brand windshield, or a PPG brand window.....Complete and utter chinese garbage.

But Sekurit, Pilkington and others are just fine..

VW/Audi use the PAAS system, which few companies but pilkington and sekurit reproduce for the aftermarket...
