Ok so I heard back from Wayne, this was his reply, anyways by my math even with just 10 cars @ $700 we are looking at $70 bucks each, not bad IMO, if you guys are interested I will pass on his contact info to Mike to set up time & date

I'd love to do the shoot.
How many shots does each owner want?
I'd bring out portable studio lighting and do it right.

$500.00 - $700.00 for all 12 plus all hi res images on disc for each owner.

Let me know as soon as you can as July is getting pretty busy.

Maybe I'm cheap, but I personally am not looking to spend anything on professional car shots, this year.

Maybe next year, after the mods to the vehichle are done.

Also, didn't it say in the very first post that the OP was looking for a photographer to 'donate' their services, in exchange for credit for the pics? Im not saying your price isn't a good deal, but I think the OP was trying to arrange more of a barter deal.

Looking through the web site I see plenty of amazing fashion shots but nothing that is like what we are looking for. Generally I am in for paying for a professional after all that is how they make a living. So here is my thought..... have him come down on cost so that most of his expenses are covered (we can buy him dinner) and he will now have cars and rolling shots to add to his portfolio for advertising.

What does everybody think of that?

Keep in mind a professional person not only has the equipment but the eye and vision that we are looking for.

I would likely be in for that.

I love the idea and a pro is a great idea as they have the experience and the eye for great shots, plus the crazy camera and all the expensive lenses. But on the other hand im broke with all my home renos going on to drop $70 bux on my car pics right now.

From a photographers perspective, no good photographer will 'donate' unless they are part of the club and doing it on a buddy basis.

Someone that will donate is just another guy that spent about $2000 on a camera and is looking to update his portfolio and get recognized. These type of shooters will never even come close to what you guys are looking for. No experiance nor is there any vision. Whoever in this thread stated that the guy only shoots models etc. and isnt what you are looking for, is wrong. What is your car going to be? A model! Bigger bulkier, but it is easier to control the light for a car than a model. Ask the guy what his equipment is, what lenses he will use, what type of lighting etc. Than ask me if he has the right stuff to pull it off.

If I were to do this I would probably charge easily $100 -$150 per car depending on how many cars plus I would charge for prints and not hand over the files. So you guys are getting a decent deal.

Look at it thisway, YOU ALL drive Audi's, your oil change costs more than what this guy will charge to shoot your car. Yeah sure its easy to snap a few photos but the editing and the time put into the photoshoot itself + creativity, and investment on equipment, where he could book another gig? I highly doubt he will ever do it for photo credit? Do you remember the last car photo or any photo you looked at anywhere and know the name of the photographer??? Be honest! NO you dont. So the only person that will do it for a photocredit is that guy that went overboard on his camera purchase and still has no clue what to do with it.

Sorry about the rant but its something I feel strongly about and photographers are always given the "It costs you nothing to snap a photo" mindset. Where I personally invested easily over $25G's on my photography equipment and still not done purchasing everything that I need. So $70 for a decent photoshoot of your car and 5-10 images is a heck of a deal!

lol Wayne Williams?...that's a blast from the past. Neat.

I am not sure if we need a paid pro. This is very easily accomplishable with advanced amateurs I think.

Of course having a pro never hurts, but just saying for myself, a reasonably accomplished photographer, I don't think I'd hire someone. It's just a frigging car

Yeah been friends for a long time, the other reason I thought of asking him is he is a automotive fanatic, loves cars, huge F1 fan, still remember flying in his AMG ( can't remember the series, sorry) but it was fast as hell, he showed me how well the ABS worked, I nearly crapped my pants, so if you remember Wayne you must remember Kenny B, he's also a good friend, he's on hit radio in Ottawa now. The reason I mentioned hiring someone is also seems that nobody is gonna step up & do this..
