Help.
I have both original keys for my Audi A3 2004 yr, but one of them does not open the car remotely. It starts the car fine once inside, however when i have tried to program it as it says on this forum and in the manual it does not work. Please help as i do not want to have to go to Audi to have my key programmed there and pay for it.

 

Thats not ture, i have removed my battery at least half a dozen times (including this past weekend) and my remote works jsut fine afterwards. Also my buddy in his 00 S4 removed his battery and his remote worked jsut fine and my firends 00 TT battery died jsut last wednesday and we repalced the battery and no reprograming was needed also.

 

My battery negative came off and i came back to my car tried starting it no signal. tried again no power anywhere poped the hood the negative came off. Put it back on drove to another store parked, got out shut the door tried locking my car it didnt work. So dont tell me I am wrong!!! There are different types of audis out there and a wide variety on my B6 A4 it happened and a few other people it happened to that I know. So as far as my knowledge extends on the b6 A4 it needs to be re-programed. This information is here to help people out not to criticise others by their good will.

 

Sounds like I already know the answer to my question from info already stated, but just to make sure I'm going to ask anyways just to be sure. I take it I absolutely NEED both keys to reprogram the remote after a battery change?

Problem is my remote only works from about 25' away so need to change the battery, and I only have the one key... any options other than buying a new key from the stealership, which I'm assuming don't come cheap.

 

You can easily program your new or used fob to open and close the door. windows, etc but if you want a newly cut key in that new or used fob you will have to go to the Audi dealer to have them reprogram all your keys at once to the cars ECU. Unless you have the original 4 or 7 digit code that came on your key ring when the car was bought new. If you have that, then you can use a VAG COM to reprogram the fob. I have to head to the stealershp tomorrow to get mine done. $56 + tax to have my used fob, the valet, and carbon key reprogrammed....sucks!

 

Hey it not the battery that is the actual range!!! If you want to improve the range you can do it yourself very easily. By stripping the anttena wire located underneath the car and you get about 100' range I personally like the short distance because when you place the keys in your pocket and walking around unlocking your car

Was it not on this forum that I saw a thread about modding a B7 remote via swapping immo chips so you could use it on a B6? I am going insane trying to locate that thread =P

Edit: Since we're talking remotes etc, the horn in the trunk works on panic, alarm set-off etc, but when I arm it from the remote it does arm but makes the quietest chirp that sounds more like a dying 90 year old goose than a horn! It's not the horn itself (I hooked up another along with a siren) and that works fine. Any ideas? No way THAT can be normal too lol

 

My 02 A4 beeps when I arm it. I do not get a horn sound. I used to on my Passat. I prefer the beep in my A4
