Hey fellow audi drivers/enthusiasts,

I bought a 2001 S4 a bout 6 months ago, and everything's been great so far... however, just a few days ago, i noticed my car started making this humming/winding noise whenever i hit speeds of 40km/h +

It's extremely noticable whenever i take my foot off the gas as of roughly 50km/h up to 80km/h. But, whenever I go beyond 80km/h, i can't determine if the sound is still there because the engine noise is louder.

Basically, it sounds like my car is revving at a higher rpm than it really is, but my fuel consumption and my rpm's seem fine...

I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone, or if someone could shed some light. I have my 128k service next week, and don't know if I should worry about this immediately or simply wait until my scheduled service.

Could be a wheel bearing or a bad tire ????

thanks for the reply, buds. turns out, in additional to both my rear bearings needing a change, there might be a problem with the rear differential.

anyone have any idea what that might implicate???
