Smile New Car Extra Warranties - ? Value

Just picked up our 3rd Audi A4.

Purchased the Audi Care Plan (for $750) & am considering the Mechanical Breakdown Protection package ($3,375 + Tax).

Drive about 25,000 km per year.

Appreciate any advice on the value of this option & the quoted price.

Is it worth it?

Our last A4 gave us 7 years of trouble-free driving with no major repair costs.

Thanks!

...John

I got my 2012 s4 "used" when it was really a demo owned by the dealerships manager, so we got the luxury of the remaining factory warranty + 2 years certified preowned.
We did however pass on the additional warranty after that.
We did however also buy Audi Care and Leather + Paint protection, hopefully that's worth it!

Its worth it only when your actual manufacturer's warranty runs out and THEN your purchased warranty begins. Otherwise, whats the point?

The only time I've come ahead on an extended warranty was on a POS Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Hemi. Otherwise, the claims were paltry.

Anything can break down during, its the down payment you are providing for a repair that may or may not happen afterward. Its a gamble, but if you can afford it, its piece of mind.

And be VERY meticulous with your maintenance and KEEP the records. Never know when a Audi fault becomes your problem, if you catch my drift.

I don't know what Audi Care is exactly, but leather and paint protection can be had a lot cheaper doing your own elbow grease and purchase from Canadian Tire.

Thats where they apply the plastic film on the front end? Yes, its a goo investment. Can hardly tell its there. I'd shop around for something like that. Dealer will send it to _______ and charge you $300 extra.

I don't think it's a film, not like a vinyl at least.
I was told it's just a spray like an extra layer of paint or something except obviously clear

I haven't heard of that, but may be possible. As long as it can be easily removed when needed.

I emailed him once I found him listed in Finance and included the VIN along with my name, address and phone and what I was looking for. When he called 15 minutes later he'd already verified ownership (and that my Limited had AWD), gave me a price and took my credit card info.
