The shop rate is $60/hour which sounds reasonable... But they charged me $900 (plus tax) to change the water pump and thermostat. $300 in parts, $600 in labour? 10 hours? Get a competitive quote to keep the Dragan honest. Friendly guy, expensive hand shake.

His name is Dragan at Metro Garage 416-536-3169.
They're located in the west end of Toronto.

Labour prices..nothing to complain about at all!

His father and himself have been running this shop for a looooooooong time. It's definitely something nice and pretty rare to come across shops that are family run.

It does not sound excessive...Is he replacing the timming belt as well while he's inside there?

I really like Ron at Bittner's in Hamilton. He's at 405 Concession Street, telephone (905) 388-4393.

They mainly deal with VWs, but he'll also do Audis. He's nice, and very honest. I've been going there for years, and I really like him.

re: Automotive Central & Metro Motors

Do these two shops specialize in Audi/VW/Porsche?

I also tried out Independent for my timing belt and major service. They're clearly a tight shop and know their stuff but:

a) they missed a few of my requests altogether
b) appear to be more interested in tuners than daily drivers like myself. My Allroad looked like a granny car in that lot.

So - while I can say that I was satisfied with the work that was done (after $2K mind you), I left there disappointed that the list wasn't completed. These other things still required attention afterward.

Also - we should start a Google map of this for the forum...

Hi

I just got my audi a6 2.7t back from Mantis Preformance, on 1029 Speers rd in Oakville. He did my timming belt and the rest of the kit, they were fast and did a good job, plus (i think) hew gave me a good deal, 1050.00$ plus tax.

I was just looking into this and actually that price is about right. The thermostat is in badly placed in the block place so the labour does in fact hit the $600 mark. My AR is in the same situation.

Just thought I'd mention it.
