Default Audi exhaust pipe

I have an Audi 2007 A4 front wheel drive Engine 2.0 liter turbo 49000km. My 2 exhaust pipes created a lot of black carbon. Inside the pipes there is a thick coat of black carbon. Is it a serious problem and what can I do to avoid it. Could it be the fuel the plugs. At idle my engine seem to be rough. As I just bought this used Audi and this is my first Audi, should I consider it as normal.

I like the car but I am worry with this situation.

it's completely normal, all turbo cars have that, just need to clean the tips often and dont let it seat too long otherwise it will eat into the chrome, I use Blue Magic to clean my and it stay shiny.

As far as "rough" engine goes, it's direct injection so it will sound like a diesel, that is normal too, if you are getting a lot of vibration when in gear or you notice the engine is idling rough, maybe check the coil pack. otherwise get it to the dealer and have them scan for any fault code and go from there or come to one of the meets, some one there would always have a VAG to scan for you

Thank you Wirebeans, Do you also have a 2007 Audi A4 Front Wheel.Iwill try the blue magic as you recommend. On my Audi I can hear the road noice much more than my Volvo, mainly when the pavement is a little rough, I have Pirelli tires should I consider Michelin in the future.

Thank you.

I have the little sister of A4 an A3 2.0T FWD also 2007 w/DSG, just as quick though. Exhaust pipe turn black the first week LOL, Blue magic has worked well for me, first time cleaning you need to go over it patiently if it's really black use dish washing scrubbing sponge if you have to, other wise just go over it and over it with a cloth/small towel rub it until it shines and they will stay shiny for a long time, I only have to wipe down the edges when I notice them getting black at the bottom edge, I have developed a habit of checking my exhaust tips while I gas her up.

I have my A3 since new and she came with Pirelli P6 which is the noisiest tires I have had, after they haunted me for 1.5 years I finally had enough and swap them out for Falkens, a lot quieter but performance is worst than the P6 especially in wet and snow. P6 is great in rain and it works really well in snow, i didnt need snow tire.

My P6 was out of round after 10k, and the dealer wont replace under warranty, it has a nasty howling at highway speed, so bad that I sware the wheel bearings were shot.

I am switching to a new set of rims and tires so I am going to sale the falkens and get some snow tires on the OEM rims for the winter. I am just worried that with 18" or 19" rims and low profile tires, it will be noisy, so I am searching around to see the feedbacks of people with different tires.
