Default Wheels Spacers

It seems that I need to get some spacers for my wheels (since I got my brakes replaced). Does anyone know the proper way to determine the size of spacers needed for particular rims?

One shop I went to said that I needed 12mm spacers for my 18" S8 rims, and 3mm spacers for my RS4 replica rims in the front. 12mm seems really thick, and I wonder about running spacers in the front, but not in the back.

Also, do any of you know a good place to get some hub centric spacers?

Help?

Check out ECS tuning, they have all sorts of spacers(hubcentric) You can definitely run spacers on just one end of the car, it all depends on how your wheels sit
